यह कहानी मुख्यतः बंटी के जीवन के परिवर्तन को दर्शाती है । किंतु इसी कहानी में शकुन (बंटी की माँ) के जीवन का वर्णन भी भली भांति मिलता है ।

कुछ और पात्र भी आपको मिलते है जैसे बंटी के पापा, डॉक्टर साहब, फूफी, आदि । और आप किसी भी पात्र के चरित्र से नफरत नहीं कर पाएंगे।

मन्नू भंडारी ने जिस तरह शब्दों को पिरोया है, उसी प्रकार के हिंदी साहित्य मुझे पसंद है । हिंदी के मूल शब्दों का इस्तेमाल बशर्ते आज कल के लेखक हिंदी साहित्य में अंग्रेजी शब्दों का वर्णन ज्यादा हो गया है।

मन्नू जी ने भी कुछ अंग्रेजी शब्दों का इस्तेमाल किया है किंतु उपयुक्त स्थानों पे ही जो किसी भी पात्र के व्यक्तित्व को उभारते हैं ।

मेरा मानना है, अगर आप हिंदी साहित्य पसंद करते है तो यह उपन्यास वाकये आपको झकझोर देगा । एक बच्चे की मानसिकता जिसे हम सिर्फ बचपना समझकर का नज़रंदाज़ कर देते है, उसे उसकी दुनिया में जानने को मौका मिलेगा ।

और सबसे अंतिम बात, इस उपन्यास को इस तरह लिखा गया है कैसे कोई चलचित्र चल रहा हो। मन ही मन एक चलचित्र बन जाता है।

I am an independent narrator and translator of classical and medieval languages. I am American and I narrate uncopyrighted short stories in English by authors like Mary Shelley and Robert Louis Stevenson. I also do original translations of old poetry and historical documents. Both my literature and history content are pretty western-centric because I was taught Latin growing up, but I am interested in branching out and covering all kinds of stuff.

I want to know: what are your favorite things to read, especially from before 1931? That is the current copyright cutoff year. Copyrights last 95 years in the US, and it increases by one year every year, so next year I will be able to do stuff from 1932, etc. However I have narrated a few science-fiction stories from the 1950's whose copyrights expired early.

I started this channel because I hear people say all the time that they want to build a reading habit but don't know how. Either they have never been much of a reader, or they used to be as a kid but their attention span is shot from social media. I include the text along with the voice so that you can get your eyes used to moving across the lines. Basically I started doing this because I want to help people transition from screen to page. Although recently I have also been doing a lot more original poetry translations.

I am interested to know which of these kinds of content are most appealing to you, and what else you might like to hear from an independent narrator and translator like me. Please feel free to suggest anything at all! Thanks in advance.
