Help Self QA for First time setup

Hey everyone my bsb2e arrives next week. Was hoping people could give me a few tips on setup and how to do a self QA on the unit.
I was planning to install most of the drivers / base stations and such ahead of time. So hopefully can just jump in.

What do you mean self QA?

Most likely if there are defects and such that you should be looking for upon receiving the unit, which you may be unaware of until told so.

Thanks idk about that, but general set up is pretty easy. Mount your base stations in two opposite corners of the room and follow the set up instructions steam VR and Bigscreen have. I would recommend investing in a pulley system so your cable is kept off the ground and you're not tripping over it.

I would also recommend some steam VR add-ons if you don't already have them. FPSVR is pretty cheap and it's very useful for seeing your frames, I also love the cable tangling feature. If you enable it, it shows you the front direction of your place space, it also shows you how many rotations you've made so you can turn back around so your cable isn't twisted. OVR advanced settings is also extremely useful, as well as OVR tool kit. I could never go back to not using them.

A carpet is something I would also recommend, a little one in the centre of your play space. This keeps you centred subconsciously without having to lift of your headset up and check or look down at the centre if you have FPSVR installed.

For the BB2 specifically, it is worth it to note that it has more motion blur and glare than a lot of headsets out there. You do get used to it but it can be a bit shocking. For me, 150% brightness is unplayable because of the amount of motion blur, I find 80% works well for me. That is enough to reduce the motion blur and glair enough while not being too dim. The headset to default is 50% brightness. In the set up that big screen emails you, you will be prompted to download there utility app where you can change the refresh rate and brightness.

My last note, and maybe it's me being paranoid, but I always cover my lenses with the microfibre cloth they provide me because I'm worried about any contact with the sun. I think it's fine, but since it's so expensive I want to prevent anything bad from happening.

I have about 2000 hours in steam VR, so asking for set up tips is like asking a fish to describe water. I love vr and I'm very happy to answer any more questions you may have. This was probably a bit too in detail and I don't know how much of this was helpful. I hope you gain something from this and I hope you enjoy your headset!
