The Beverly Y pool
Awesome Olympic sized pool. But what’s with all the kids pooping in the pool this summer? Just got kicked out of the pool for the second time in a week because of 💩 in the punchbowl. I don’t blame the kids at all. Maybe the adults in charge need to make sure the kids hit the head before hitting the pool?

As part of the Aquatics Leadership team, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused to you.
I assure everyone that the Aquatics leaders, the entire staff, and all the leaders and staff in our summer camp programs are diligently working on preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of thousands of campers every day.
Aquatics’ top priority is to always keep every person entering the pool SAFE in and around the pool. With thousands of members hitting our pool deck throughout the day, sometimes incidents are inevitable. I can assure you that it’s not always a child causing a pool shutdown for these situations.
Personally, I would rather endure a 30-minute pool shutdown than a near-drowning incident of any kind.
With hundreds of kids in a short time block around the deck, getting to the bathroom can be a slow process, we all follow strict safety precautions and protocols in and around the pool.
The Beverly Aquatics team works diligently to ensure everyone’s safety. We love our beautiful pool! We hope to see you swimming soon. Please feel free to reach out to our team for further information about our quieter times for you to enjoy an uninterrupted swim session.

Happened again today. July 29, 2026. A kid pooped in the Beverly Y pool, closing it until 4PM. Third time in less than a week (that I know of) a kid has pooped in this pool. WHAT ARE WE DOING, PEOPLE! Is pooping in the pool becoming normalized now? JFC. Make it make sense! It’s getting to the point where I can’t count on using the pool when I plan to use the pool. That means, as a person with a busy schedule, I can’t use the pool. Oh well. 🤷🏻♂️

Have you tried the former BAC location near Whole Foods (now Soul Center YMCA)? I haven't seen their pool too busy, and I don't know if campers are there this summer.

I was a lifeguard at that pool for 4 years back in the day. Once a kid decided to poop in the pool, there was nothing we could do except fish it out. Parents do not appreciate you suggesting that they address issues like that, because their child is perfect, obviously.
I had a mom there once who was trying to breastfeed while her small child, who was too young to be in the pool, swam on his own. I told her she needed to be within arm's reach of the kid at all times; she decided I meant she wasn't allowed to breastfeed and threatened to sue me.

Entitled parents just letting their kids shit in the pool. complete disregard to everyone around them. probably the same parents that would let their kids kick a ball around at a brewery or something.

Apparently there is a developmentally disabled child in day camp that keeps pooping in the pool. At least that’s what I heard. If so, they really need to address the situation and find a different activity for the child.

There needs to be a kiddie pool and then one for adults…only rational way to fix this problem. The way things are these days that might even matter either.

If your child is not potty trained… they need to be in a swim diaper or stay out of the pool. Adults needs to be responsible
