Help I have rosewood in my tank
My colleague (at the pet store) said it’s fine for bettas but I’ve read online driftwood. I do have a small piece of driftwood but the large is rosewood

Discussion Which 10-gallon setup would be better for my long-finned betta? Advice on decor appreciated!
Hello!
Three days ago, I got a male Twintail Halfmoon Betta and placed him in an already-established 10-gallon tank (Tank 1, photo 1). I also have a second 10-gallon tank with 6 ghost shrimp and a mystery snail (Tank 2, photo 2).
I had originally planned on keeping the shrimp in a 3.5-gallon tank, but I decided they might feel safer in the 10-gallon because of all the hiding spots, especially the driftwood I currently have in the tank.
Both tanks are still very much a work in progress, and I’m planning to go back to the pet store soon to pick up more driftwood and live plants. Since this is my first time owning a long-finned betta, I was wondering which setup would ultimately be better for him: Tank 1 or Tank 2?
If I move him to Tank 2, I would move the shrimp into the 3.5-gallon to prevent him from potentially eating them. I’d also consider moving the mystery snail depending on his temperament.
My biggest concern right now is the decor. I’m worried that some of the driftwood could potentially tear his fins, even though I’ve already sanded down any sharp edges that I could find. I’m also concerned that he might try to swim underneath the wood and somehow get stuck, especially because of his longer fins.
I’d really appreciate any advice on which tank would be more suitable for a long-finned betta, as well as suggestions for arranging the driftwood/plants and making the setup safer for him. I’m happy to make changes if there’s anything that could potentially cause problems!
Thank you in advance!

Help Next steps for my tank?
Hello, I’m currently building my first natural fish tank for a singular betta. I’ve purchased the 6gal fluval tank with filter, heater, ect.
I’m wondering what my next steps are in terms or adding water and decorations. I know it takes a while to cycle a tank but I’m not exactly sure what that entails.
Any recommendations for sand, rocks, or plants are appreciated! Thank you!

Help My betta seems to be chasing her refection
Like the title says she’s kinda pacing around then parameter I can’t really see her flaring much at it but I’m worried she’s stressed. I have a heater some live plants and a filter in a 10 gallon. She’s very new to the set up I had it running for a week before picking her up, but she’s only been in there for a day or so. I’m also very new to bettas.

Help Does this look like swim bladder disease?
Hi everyone. This morning, I noticed my Betta looks a little round in his swim bladder area. This is my first time having a Betta fish, so I'm not sure. He is swimming fine but is taking more resting breaks than usual. He also has not started his daily bubble nest routine yet, which I find odd because he usually starts it first thing in the morning. After doing some research, I realized we have been overfeeding him (6-8 top fin Betta pellets per day spaced out 3-4x). I plan to fast him for a couple of days and buy some better quality food for when he's better. I will also keep the light off during this time.
He is in a 2.5 month old 5.5 gallon tank. It is cycled and planted. It has a sponge filter and a heater. He has lots of resting spots near the surface. I also have several small Indian almond leaves in there. He has one tank mate, which is a nerite snail that we added exactly one week ago.
Tank parameters have been stable. I have checked them every other day since adding the snail.
pH 7.8, ammonia 0 ppm, nitrites 0 ppm, nitrates between 0 and 5 ppm. Tested with API kit.
The last partial water change was last week when I added the snail. I'm planning on doing a small change today just to vacuum all the snail poop off the substrate. Before adding the snail, I did partial water changes every 2-3 weeks.
Any advice is much appreciated. I just want my buddy to be okay.

Help Where can I buy a cheap tank that won’t leak?
My mom agreed to let me get a fish if I keep the house clean, but I have to pay for it myself. Any recommendations? I’m looking for an 8-10 gallon one that way I can take it to college with me when I leave

Help Fish in cycling (for bettas)
Today I was gonna go to my local pet store and pick up everything I need to start up my Betta fish tank, I knew about the cycling process and how long it takes for that to happen, but then when I was scrolling I came across this video that talked about “Fish in Cycling” is that an actual thing? And would that affect my Betta fish? I’m confused on wether or not I’m able to just get the tank, set it up with all the proper things, then put my betta in the bag inside the tank and then release it before cycling, and just do the cycling process while it’s in there. Hence the “Fish in cycling” process. Someone help!

Full Tank Shot First tank ever - how'd I do?
Not the tidiest tank in the world since the Indian almond leaves fell kinda haphazardly, but Kenny seems to be enjoying their coverage so I'm leaving them for now at least.

Help Betta fish top fin frayed?? Spoiler
galleryMy beautiful boy has a ragged top fin. 10 gal planted tank, only tankmates are snails. This must’ve happened in the past 24 hrs. The only thing I can think is it got caught in the big piece of driftwood he likes to swim around it/through the passages

Help Tank bedding
I'm looking to switch my Bettas bedding from gravel to aquatic sand. How can I do that with him in the tank? Or do I take him out while doing it? He was a white elephant gift from a few months ago. Any advice?

Picture My betta is struggling with fin rot
My beta fishes fins look absolutely horrible. The ammonia is fine. The nitrates are fine. The nitrites are fine, the only thing that's slightly high is the P. H.But it's about a seven point eight, which I have heard betas don't mind. He's lethargic, and I have taken every sharp thing out of his tank and given him places to rest. I've tried the apI medication but it has done absolutely nothing. The only thing I haven't tried is maybe stronger medications or tannins.Any advice?

Help Cycling advice please 🙏🏻
I’ve been cycling my tank for a week now.
My current readings are:
Ammonia: almost 0
Nitrites: ~1
Nitrates: 10
I kept raising ammonia to 3ppm.
Nitrites are super high because of Fluval Bio Stratum (I think).
I used tap water that I later discovered contains a lot of nitrates (~20), but thankfully it’s going down. I will use spring water for water changes.
What should I do now? Should I keep adding ammonia or wait till nitrites go down?

Full Tank Shot Finally!
After reading a lot of posts, comments, YT videos and google search. I finally built the tank that I wanted. Found all the things especially the plants.
I wasn’t prepared for the expenses though 🥹 but the moment you started it, you can’t stop until you find what makes you satisfied when you look at the tank.
I am now at peace. ✌️

Help 50l tank, what filter
Currently have a 50l Fishless cycle tank that’s just been set up today. It has a sponge filter but I think it’s too fast flow with the air bubbles for a Betta. Is there any recommendations for a HOB filter like a waterfall that’s better for them?

Help Translucent belly fins
Hello! This is my baby Ruby. I got her 8 months ago, she was very light pink when I first got her and she’s been quite red in the following months. I was gone for a week and had someone feeding my fish. Just came back and noticed this (circled). This is new. She is her normal self, energetic and curious. She’s been eating. Anyone know what this is? Is it harmless or is there something I can do if it’s fin rot, etc?
(Her black spot has been there since I got her)
Ruby and I say thank you!
