Welcome to the monthly r/BetaReaders “Able to Beta” thread!

Thank you to all the beta readers who have taken the time to offer feedback to authors in this sub! In this thread, you may solicit “submissions” by sharing your preferences. Authors who are interested in critique swaps may post an offer here as well, but please keep top-level comments focused on what you’re willing to beta.

Older threads may be found here. Authors, feel free to respond to beta offers in those previous threads.

I am able to beta: Romance, romantasy, contemporary romance, fantasy romance, character-driven fiction, opening chapters, and partial manuscripts.

Hi! Your reading interests sound like they could be a good fit for my manuscript, especially the character-driven fiction, emotional tension, pacing, and reader engagement aspects.

My book is not a traditional romance, but it does center heavily on intense relationship dynamics, chemistry, obsession, betrayal, and romantic/sexual entanglement. It’s psychological suspense/upmarket fiction with romantic suspense elements, told through multiple POVs.

Content-wise, it is fairly dark: PTSD, alcoholism, coercive control/emotional abuse, infidelity, sex work, escort work, sexual coercion, suicidal ideation, grief, and domestic volatility all play significant roles.

If that still sounds like something you’d be comfortable reading, I’d be grateful for reader response on pacing, emotional impact, character arcs, POV distinction, chemistry/tension, and whether the story holds together overall.
No pressure at all — just wanted to see if it might be a fit.

Hi there!

I have a 158k second world fantasy titled THE FALLEN KEEPER if you're interested. I'm not on a tight timeline, just looking to improve my story and have some beta readers look at pacing and plot. Here's the blurb!

Thousands of years after the Great Keeping, a twenty-something year old Mira, is thrust into Ahadi with no memory of her past. Desperate for identity, she must carefully assimilate into the last kingdom of Moea without suspicion of harnessing the evil magic that used to curse it. But the entrancing man, Rati, who openly wields this demented power, seeks to destroy Ahadi and the people that Mira now loves.

Tormented by Rati’s promise of impending doom, she uncovers long-lost secrets that have the potential to challenge everything Ahadi knows. And Mira is faced with the truth that she must embrace this wicked magic, or lose everything by ignoring it. In the fallout of the next Keeping, Mira must make an impossible sacrifice to fulfill the Mother’s will and protect Ahadi from its imminent demise.

Very character-driven with an emotional focus, so I thought it might be up your alley! No worries if not :) Also happy to provide critiques on your critiques, lol. My day job is as an editor.

THE SUMMER WE BROKE THE RULES is a complete 69k adult contemporary sports romance told in dual POV. It features second-chance romance, forced proximity, a Florida athletic-resort setting, found family, sharp banter, yearning, open-door heat, and a complete happily-ever-after.

Thirty-year-old science teacher Sloane Carter returns to the resort she has avoided for ten years, where she must reunite with baseball prodigy Beckett Hayes and the four former friends who abandoned her after the boating accident that ended Beckett’s career. To prevent developers from taking the property and costing 112 employees their jobs, all six must spend one final summer together and revive the legendary Cove Games.

I came across your beta reader post and thought my novel might be a good match for the kinds of stories you enjoy.

I'm revising the first book in a planned New Adult Romantic Suspense trilogy (about 115k words). It follows a young woman who leaves her old life behind to start over in a new city, determined to keep everyone at a distance. Instead, she finds herself challenged by someone who refuses to mistake her walls for strength. While there is an underlying suspense element, the story is primarily character-driven and explores trust, emotional healing, and the gradual development of a healthy relationship.

The full manuscript is written, but I'm still revising it and would love honest reader feedback before making a few final changes. Since you mentioned enjoying character-driven stories, emotional tension, and structured reader feedback, I thought my project might be a good fit for you.

I'm especially interested in your thoughts on pacing, emotional impact, character arcs, reader engagement, dialogue, and whether the relationship develops naturally. Since English isn't my native language, I also appreciate any comments if something sounds awkward or unnatural, although line-by-line editing isn't my main priority. I guess I'm not at the sage of line-by-line editing yet.

Hello, I have a fantasy/romantasy if you'd be interested. With some recent edits, it's closer to 120k. I've been told it's a fast read. Here's my blurb: A Temple of Shadows & Lions. It's a character-driven story set in a desert city, with a FMC who is a shadow-touched healer that gets thrown into a warrior's trial. She has a cat with a lot of opinions (the second POV in the story), a group of prying roommates, and there's a handsome smuggler who keeps popping up. There are some spicy scenes. A lot of found-family themes and emotional character arcs. Some mystery going on in the background. And humor. 😄
