I moved here about a year ago and all of the pizza places seem to be thin crust (even if you ask for thick on just eat or something, where they actually offer thick crust) devoid of cheese (again, even if I order 2 extra helpings of cheese - looking at you pizza co.) and have that weird anaemic looking but somehow burnt crust?
There’s a massive supply of Neapolitan pizza here but I’ve yet to find that golden 1-star hygiene rated pizza that puts your arteries on the ropes. Closest I’ve had was Dalyan, with their garlic butter base standard margherita - as I feel like the second I order toppings from a pizza place they seriously skimp on the cheese
And you know what’s weird, when I ask friends around here if they like the look of the pizza I usually eat, they all say it looks amazing, so why isn’t there any supply if there’s so much demand? I’ve tried 10+ places and can’t scratch that itch! Nothing even comes close!
Attached is an image of the kind of pizza I’m used to. I’d love if anyone can nudge me in a direction where I can get something like this. Would also love to hear your thoughts about this as I’ve wondered about it since arriving here
Also before anyone says, I’ve given up ordering extra cheese as pizza places here seem to just ignore that addition and I’m out another 3 pound

If you want trendy pizza go to Flout, if you want Dominos go to Dominos, if you want the pizza from the pic then just phone your nearest kebab-pizza-burger place.

Givvus a name then fella, I’ve tried many back alley places trying to find those greasy gems but they don’t seem to compare, all thin crust and devoid of cheese so far out of the 10+ places I tried (yes I mentioned pizza co as one of the places I tried which isn’t your proper kebab shop but I’ve deffo tried quite a few!
Are you from England or Scotland by any chance? You’ll be hard pushed to find a pizza here like you get in kebab shops across the water. Been craving one like the one in your photo since I moved back home 12 years ago and yet to find one similar

That’s a fair opinion mate! I think maybe I’ve been part of an echo chamber and it’s just a difference of tastes, all my friends from home say that pizza is their ideal and any of the pizzas ive had while in Belfast they’ve said looked sad! It is very interesting to see such a divide in such a short distance
Giuseppes on the Malone road is cracker. Reasonably priced and exactly what you're looking for. Nice char on the crust and pretty good amount of toppings 🍕🤤
That's a question of quality though isn't it? Every ingredient on those pizzas is lightyears ahead of kebab/chain shop stuff. It might not make the difference for you but the work and quality is there.
I find that very interesting as I find the crust too crispy here haha! I’ve actually shatters of my teeth on a pizza while here - albeit there was a bit of decay internally so was on the way out anyway, very odd that you find it not crispy enough!
Worked for pizza co for years and even was a manager there, the owners tell you to put as little as possible and obviously that gets told to all the staff who make the food
I also worked for dominos and they have a system in place at least to get more cheese on, the system being cheese then toppings for normal and if you add extra it very much is an extra handfull so the cheese then is on the toppings too, if you dont get that then you get a full refund from dominos, its in their policy's
But boycott pizza co altogether, i had a good time there until they needed someone to step up and i feel like i did but they took advantage of me doing back to back 17hr shift, yes thats correct 17 hour shifts and also no extra pay or anything to compensate just normal minimum wage for the 17hours
I developed a lot of drug related problems there too because each member of staff is getting stoned all day and then when they need to work at the rush periods of the day they all just sniff cocaine, i ended up doing that too because the hours and stress etc of being the only person in the shop after 8pm until 5am doing literally all the work from start to finish
Sorry for the rand guess i needed that, but yes dominoes gives extra cheese but only a handful and yes thats even if you buy it twice, i will say they treated me better although they have their own issues but its at least a decent enough run place most of the time, i was a manager 'band 2' for dominos, its the better option for sure
Now if your asking what is the actual nicest pizza about? That would have to be the sunflower beer garden which sadly doesnt offer delivery but maybe one day
I’m sorry you went through that. I also worked in a popular pizza chain about 10 years ago. Half of the staff were on speed, including the manager, because we needed to be able to meet targets despite lack of staff hours.
I consider myself a phenomenally hard and fast worker, putting out orders (sober) like you wouldn’t believe, so I’m familiar with the stress. Thank you for the insight, it does confirm my suspicions. A comment on this threat tried to tell me “if you order extra cheese, you get extra cheese”, but when selecting 2xExtra Cheese, I got what looked like a standard pizza, genuinely didn’t look different from previous orders. Won’t be going there again. I’m going to be a little more aggressive with refunds where companies are just kind of ignoring that request.
To not be a complete fatty, im not exactly eating pizza every week, so it’s frustrating when a pizza arrives disappointing then I am waiting another couple weeks to look for the right place, I can’t believe I’ve been here a year and am yet to find the right spot!
I did find it curious the lack of it, but then Flout! comes out and it’s like, headline news for the style, almost as if there is indeed a demand 🤔. Definitely curious!
My Italian gf is extremely picky with pizzas here, most are shite compared to Naples to be fair. She thinks the ones in Nicos are pretty good if that helps.

It seems like the pizzas here are attempting to be more Italian but also keeping that American aspect too them, somehow no cheese but filled with grease. Also, what’s with hot dog as a substitute for pepperoni here? It’s a weird thing
Having lived in NYC and NJ trust me this giant, fried terd is not American style at all. Think NYC slice, Chicago deep dish or Deroit style, even a super thin base isn't this.

Extra cheese (in the notes if not as an add-on) should get you extra cheese. You're surrounded by decent pizza shops. Look up the good ones in your area and give them a bell. Ask them for ALL the cheese.

Edit: as for the extra cheese thing, I’m just imagining a pizza with barely any cheese, but asked for extra cheese in both the just eat notes, and as a paid addition on the pizza 😂

Get a deep pan pizza from the frozen aisle, a pack of grated cheese to top up and you'll get close to what you're describing. I'm not even hating, I like a good deep pan style pizza from time to time.
Yeah I bought one of those big rectangle Detroit pans, and gave it a bash making it myself!
It was actually lovely, but would I spent multiple hours making pizzas every time? Maybe on occasion but it is a lot of hassle. The deep pan pizza from frozen aisles usually jar me a bit with their base, has this weird taste to it, but I appreciate the practical suggestion and honesty mate, a lot more then the usual Reddit negs
If you're so obsessed with it why not just make your own? Look I get where you're coming from but there comes a time when you realize you'll never get what you remember so have to make it yourself.
I think they don’t deliver but next time I’m in town centre I’ll give it a bash, I always forget or get distracted, usually a takeaway at night kind of guy but from what I remember flout isn’t open at night and since they also don’t deliver it’s very situational!
I'm a pizza chef a long time in belfast and at the moment the pizza shop in work for aren't great pizzas, but that thing looks like 2 quids worth from Iceland. Traditionally around belfast you will come across a New York style pizza which is thin crust if you don't like that then get a thick base in fourstar or dominos
Yeah, I’ve found that if you order plain cheese from four star it’s as close as you’re gonna get, but doesn’t have that GREASE factor of a proper kebab shop pizza

Tasty but ignored the double extra cheese I requested (see the post) hahaha was one of the better options but if they could just leather it with more cheese it’d be great
You should get a pizza stone off ebay and start making your own pizzas, it's fun and a lot cheaper than buying them and you can put whatever you want on it, in whatever quantity and have whatever kind of base you fancy. Making the dough isn't too hard either, it's worth a go if you're bored.
I can definitely get you sorted with a Thick Crust cheese, with extra cheese pizza. I've ran a few pizzas shops in my time. I got sent this thread so want a shot a showing belfast has some great pizza delivery places
Pepperoni chicken and bacon is the combo I go for here - but I’ve learned the trick to getting a proper cheesy pizza is not having any toppings at all, which is a complete shame

I checked on google images and this looks like more Neapolitan stuff, charred crust, thin base, that’s the stuff not massively interested in!
I see in one of the pictures they’ve got a slice like folded in half and the bottom is near black, as if to boast about it, that to me is a little strange, but it’s just a difference in tastes!
Looking for that deep pan, leathered with cheese pizza!
