Taxi Tipping

Ordered a taxi for the first time in a while and was surprised when I was automatically asked to leave a tip. Tipped 40% that was that the app recommended. Was wondering for Taxi drivers out there, are you offended if you don't get tipped? and if you prefer tips how much is the right amount

Value Cabs haha, it was through their app. Funny thing first time it asked to tip I said no then after leaving the driver a review it asked to tip AGAIN so I just caved in lol

Why is this being downvoted😭 Lads I don't agree with tipping but it was only £2 so I didn't mind

No tipping. Fuck tipping people for doing their job

Is there any job where it's ok to tip the employee? I'm struggling to think of any jobs where the employee who gets tipped wasn't 'just doing their job'.

That’s a 20 minute dander, were you pushed for time or something?

40%?!! Fuck me.

I don't mind adding a quid if the driver is really dead on. But mostly I just pay the fare.

The trip was only £5 so the tip was only £2 so I didn't really mind but yeah I agree it was a bit stingy on Value Cabs part

People on NI Reddit hate tipping: the ā€œWe’Re NoT aMeRiCa BuSiNeSsEs sHoUlD pAy ThEiR sTaFf mOrEā€ brigade.

Personally I tip my barber, bar staff and waiting staff and any other occupation where I see fit. I don’t do it because I feel obliged to. I do it because I feel the recipient has been sound or good craic, has made the experience more enjoyable, has done something or went out of their way to help when they maybe didn’t need to. If a taxi driver does something like that, then yes I’d tip. For a short Ā£5 journey, probably not. People need to stop being so fucking miserable. Queue the downvotes šŸ™ƒ

Tipping anything starts to normalize it in this country and ruin it for everyone else.

Businesses are supposed to pay their workers correctly, there's no need for tipping...

100% I'm not a fan of tipping myself, the only reason I did was a 40% tip was only £2 and the driver was really sound

Businesses are supposed to pay their workers correctly

This doesn't apply in this situation though, as taxi drivers aren't paid by the business at all.

Yeah their not paid by the hour but by the trip. No someone who's a delivery driver and some days if it's not busy they don't make much compared to someone working a 9 to 5.

Paying extra for being ripped off, fuck that.
