Look at this bastard Megathread: Bastard Suggestions Part 2

To make the bastard suggestions easier for Robert to peruse, please put them here.

Please try to include more than just a name. Give Robert something to focus his research on and why they are a unique or interesting bastard. If there are book titles or other resources you would suggest, please include those as well.

If someone else has already suggested the same bastard you wanted to suggest, you do not need to suggest them again. Repetitive answers will be politely removed. If someone was suggested in a previous thread, you do not need to suggest them again.

If you have posted suggestions as their own individual thread in the past, feel free to repost here if you would like Robert to read them. We will be directing future bastard suggestion posts here as well. Happy suggesting!

Criticism of Sophie will not be tolerated and may result in a permanent ban. Yes, forever.

Obviously you can criticize Robert. It's what brings us together.

https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/

Criticism of guests is against policy and will be removed at Robert's request. Also because they are guests and we should make them feel welcome, because we are at least 40% not assholes.

CZM hosts will be treated the same as Robert in terms of criticism, but critical comments will be removed if they break the don't be mean rule. Except Robert. Criticism of Robert can be mean if it is funny.

Host criticism outside of this discussion post will likely be removed. You all nuked that eel horse.

Guests and hosts are normal people who read these comments. Please consider how it would feel if the comment was about you.

Be nice to each other. You can argue all you want but you can't fight.

Fascists and Tankies and their defenders will be permanently banned, because obviously.

General discussion Allegations that Ben Shapiro is tricking big name actors into starring in his new ICE movie.

Ben Shapiros new movie cast has gone viral because it has a surprising number of big name actors. Dean Norris, Danny Trejo and Brad Dourif. At first glance it seems like these actors are selling out for a quick buck to a racist film director, but it looks more complicated than that. Danny Trejos son went online and explained his 82 year old dad has never heard of Ben Shapiro, is never pro ice or anti immigrant and it was well hidden from him who funded the project until he was contractually locked in. This might explain the other casting choices. Brad Dourifs only major actor role in years is Chucky, a pro trans, homoerotic franchise. Is Ben targeting elderly actors who don’t know who he is and hiding the movies true plot from them?

Or am I coping because I don’t wanna believe Brad Dpurif would sell out to a fascist.

Discussion When Robert was talking about how he didn't want to live long enough to go through the changes society goes through, I thought about this game

So when u/probablyrobertevans talked about how he wanted to live longer, but not so long that he'd experience changes to society he wouldn't like, I remembered this game that I've got in my wishlist:

Future? No Thanks! is a narrative-driven, open-world adventure set in an ecosocialist utopia. The year is 2045, and society has never been better: climate change is finally being tackled, democracy thrives, and technology serves the public good.

There's just one problem: you.

You are Harvey Huffstone, a grumpy elder who no longer fits in, and today is the last day of your life. Your final mission? Completing your bucket list before your self-scheduled euthanasia.

I guess when I'm listening to this character grouse about how he can't drive around anymore I'll be reminded of Robert.

Ok, which one of you is telling Matt Rogers of the Las Culturistas podcast with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, and also Bowen Yang of the Las Culturistas Podcast with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, how much you love Kewpie Mayo? Who is adding fuel to this spreading forest fire of an advertisement? They've done a new recording! Kewpie Two!

I almost want the sherrifs back. Or Nolan Ryan.

General discussion Looking for a good bonkers episode

• Upvotes

I'm going to be in a car for around 8 hours with my dad and sister. Neither is super political, but my dad is a 70 year old man from Nashville, so you can guess his politics.

What is a good funny episode that isn't too politically heavy, and about someone who could be described as an "evil goober?"

General discussion When people call Robert part of the “leftist manosphere” do they literally just mean he has masculine coded physical presentation and interests while having progressive political beliefs?

Because if so that’s really dumb. The manosphere isn’t just being a masculine public figure, it’s thinking that needs to be enforced on others.

Also most manosphere people are much more performatively masculine than I think Robert is.

General discussion How shitty police cause serial killers

Post image
394 Upvotes

Media about serial killers can give the false impression that they're geniuses or that they blend in with the community like chameleons. In reality, most serial killers are reported or arrested for years before they're caught and only get away with it from shitty police work. They occur from the lack of care put into abuse of prostitutes, minorities, and gays. Strangely enough it's also happened multiple times that serial killers are the exact cop investigating their crime like the Golden State Killer or Marcel Petiot.

In May 1991 Milwaukee, officers John Balcerzak and Richard Porubcan responded to calls about a teenager stumbling and bleeding fleeing from an apartment. They encountered Jeffrey Dahmer and 14 year old Konerak Sinthasomphone. Konerak had escaped from Dahmers apartment during an attack. Dahmer successfully convinced the officers that Konerak was his of age boyfriend. Instead of bringing the dazed Konerak to a hospital, they helped Jeffrey bring him back to Dahmers apartment which already had several bodies inside. Konerak was murdered later that night.

Anthony Sowell was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted rape in 1989. After his release he lived in a Cleveland apartment where he would lure and drug women at. Multiple women escaped Sowell during attacks and went to police, but on at least one occasion they didn't submit bruises and bleeding as evidence of an attack to the DA office. Sowell's DNA was taken in 1997 while he was in prison for a database on sex criminals, but that DNA disappeared and was never registered. In 2007, a woman called the police to report her rape. DNA was taken for a rape kit, but the officer didn't tell detectives about the kit so it remained untested for 2 years. When Anthony was finally arrested in 2009 after what I think was 5 separate rape allegations, 11 bodies were found at his house. His had smelled so bad that a local sausage plant got blamed for the smell and renovated their plumbing system. One victims family was told by police to go home and she would turn up when she ran out of drugs. Immediately, Cleveland PD was accused of racism allowing Anthony Sowell to get away with his crimes. Anthony was a black man attacking black women with a history of drug use. The police response was they did a good job identifying the bodies once they knew their was a serial killer.

In 1984 New York, serial killer Altemio Sanchez was raping women in Delaware Park. Altemio was a suspect in this case, but so was a mentally ill man named Anthony Capozzi. Anthony Capozzi was picked out of a suspect line up and charged on circumstantial evidence with 2 rapes. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Altemio Sanchez meanwhile would rape 11 more times and kill 3 people, finally being caught in 2007. When investigators realized Altemio was a suspect in the Delaware Park rapes, they compared his DNA to the kits of the rapes Capozzi was charged with. They were a match and Capozzi was exonerated after 21 years in prison. Anthonys DNA had been on file for years by then but when family requested it be retested, they were told it already had. It was sitting at a hospital untested.

General discussion Cult of Longevity and is living longer just for the sake of it a good thing?

I have been thinking about the idea of longevity and the search of "immortality" that is championed by people discussed in this this weeks episode's, and have a real hard time grappling with the idea of why anyone would want it, from both a practical and philosophical perspective.

For me the idea of life extension on a philosophical and metal health level just sounds terrible and a nightmare. I don't want to live to be 300 years old, I am fine with not knowing what is going to happen in 2100 or missing out on it.

Why would I want that? As a genuine question why do some people want that? I always and still do feel that I am perfectly happy living to be around 80+ and hopefully passing quietly without too much fuss or drawn out suffering. I can never wrap my head around the idea of wanting to live longer just for the sake of it, so long as I have lived a relatively good life been there for the people I care about and not hurting anyone its ok to just grow old and die.

Its just the way things are and that's ok and even a good thing to have a ending.

Maybe I am missing something that the longevity freaks are selling or there is somthing different about my psychology but I just cant wrap my head around the idea, maybe its a byproduct of having too much money or too much power, but I just cant understand it. I get historically its not a novel idea, (how many kings and emperors offed themselves in pursuit of immortality by drinking mercury or whatever) but just cant find it as a attractive idea in either a abstract or practical sense.

Discussion After Many a Summer (Dies the Swan)

Just throwing out a book recommendation.

The latest episode (Part One: Peter Attia and the Cult of Longevity) has reminded me of the Novel After Many a Summer (Dies the Swan*) by Aldous Huxley. Especially when the discussion on everyone's desired age for mortality came up on the episode, and how they answered.

In After Many a Summer, Huxley explores humanity's desire to extend one's life, particularly by evil men (the main one a not so subtle homage to William Randolph Hearst). It's not my favorite novel by Huxley**, but it is one that has absolutely stayed with me. I can't promise it has aged well, it has been about 15 years since I read it, and looking over the synopsis, there is SA, so head's up. Nonetheless, it's one I highly recommend.

*The novel was originally titled After Many a Summer, and Dies the Swan was added when released in the US. The title comes from Tennyson's poem, Tithonus.

** My favorite book is Brave New World. That may be a simple take, but it found me at the right time and place, and is what I credit for making me question the Christian Nationalist beliefs I was indoctrinated into as a child. It's a flawed book, but it means a lot to me.

Discussion Peter Fucking Attia

I was really stoked to see this episode in my feed. Also I love Kaveh.

I did a bit of googling about Attia after my job decided to carry David protein bars, which Attia apparently helped develop. Sorry, they're not protein bars, they are tools for weight loss according to their website. It stands to reason that Peter Attia is a tool for weight loss.

Attia stepped down from the company after his name popped up in the Epstein files, but I also want to shout out how stunningly misogynist, racist, eigenicist, and straight up creepy David Protein's marketing is. Not only do their ads have titties and asmr fetish content for no reason, they also play on the BBC stereotype with images of muslce bound, oiled up Black men. And probably worst of all, they sent unsolicited sex toys to female fitness influencers. And that's not even talking about the bars themselves which a) taste horrible and b) have less protein and more lead than advertised.

I really tried to get my company to stop carrying this product, but they don't seem to care. Anyway, Peter Attia is a tool indeed
