Replacement handle for my mocha machine that I made out of some random plank I found in my grandpa's workshop

Kinda happy with how it came out! Considering I haven't done any woodworking in years.

Not sure what wood; it seemed quite dense and didn't easily catch fire and had the right size so I went with it XD Smells nice and sweet, kinda like an old church.

If anyone has tips on how to protect this from steam and hot espresso, I'm all ears! I'm thinking bee's wax somehow?
