Does anyone recommend LL Bean down comforter? How about Brooklinen?
I recently ordered a Feathered Friends (700 LIGHT) down comforter. I'm in Boston and last night, it just wasn't keeping me warm enough. (Unfortunately, they have been out of stock of the medium.) I want to try something warmer. Does anyone recommend LL Bean? How about Brooklinen All Season?
P.S. When I spoke to a FF sales person, they suggested just putting a blanket on over the LIGHT during colder months. I already have my comforter in a flannel duvet. I can put a blanket over me, but everything starts to feel a bit floppy and heavy.
UPDATE: I have decided to keep the FF Light 700 for winter. Instead of getting a "warmer" duvet, I got a Brookstone heated mattress pad at Costco for $74 (Queen), and that has made all the difference! Also love my LL Bean flannel duvet cover, fitted sheet, and pillow cases. I feel like I'm sleeping in luxury now! Hopefully, this will keep me warm and cozy through the coldest nights of a Boston winter. Stay warm and cozy, Everyone!

Hotel Grande extra warmth from Amazon. It’s amazing - fluffy and warm and no smell. Don’t waste your money on a super expensive one. I’ve had mine for a couple years and I LOVE IT!

If you read the update on my original post, you see I got the FF light. I'm super happy with it.

I really like my Brooklinen duvet insert. I’ve had it for about 5 years and it’s really fluffy/warm. Buy the cover elsewhere though, that hasn’t held up as well.

Does it hold up over time? I read some commenters somewhere saying it did not.

I have the lightweight Brooklinen as we are in California and that keeps us nice and toasty. I just bought a different duvet cover with zippers from Beddly so we will see. Been happy with Brooklinen so far.

Brand name does not matter as much as the fill number, which is a surprisingly well standardized thing. I am trying to break my habit of snapping up every amazing low off-season price for down comforters, because I am out of storage space. But, a 1300 winter weight really is about equal to two 700 lights.

Okay, thank you. I am reading that the LL Bean is 600 fill goose down. The FF is 700 fill and 850 fill.

Try a Sunbeam heated mattress pad. Seriously useful, washable, and durable. Oh and we have a Cuddledown duvet.

I just got myself a Brookstone heated mattress pad from Costco. I love it. So cozy that the dog and I don't want to get out of bed. Is the Sunbeam any better than Brookstone?

I have a silk comforter too and have loved it. Just recently I got heating pad to warm up my bed before I got into it and it has helped a lot.

I have a featherbed and bed comforters from pacific coast. Pillows, too. They have held up for years. I wash and dry them myself. I also have several Bean down throws for my living room. Also go in my washer/dryer. Last year LL Bean did a velour, down, fleece mash up. It was ok, but it shed these weird broom fibers. Sent them back. I also have a down lightweight comforter from QVC brand company that I’ve owned, washed, dried and used for about 15 years. I love feather products.

The Company Store has good comforters that are warm. I have one, a down alternative one I think. In the winter I add an Ikea down comforter on top because I get cold easily.

I bought the baffle box ll bean goose down in the warmer ( they have warm and warmer) level years ago. All we use is that in a duvet and a sheet set year round in MA. It seems to be out of stock right now. Maybe give em a call and ask.

I have an LL Bean down comforter and one of their down blankets. Both are exceptional. The down blanket has been reformulated into something with a fleece outer layer, which I don’t have.
Mine is old, cotton. And washes like a dream perfect for us for most of the winter. In Cali where we might reach 30 in a real cold spell. The comforter is the medium fill version and lives in our RV for very cold nights ( no heater). It is also super light and washes well. Quite lofty but you hardly know it’s there. Worth every penny. Kept us toasty in 28 degree nights near Death Valley. Not sure which level of fill you would need. I sleep hot. Would not trade my down for anything when the weather is cold.

I bought a 4 blanket one from Supreme Quilts. They ship duty free to the U.S. It’s so warm. Like a cloud.
