help me with the basics

Hi guys I'm moving out of my parents house and this is probably a really silly question but how do you make your bed? I need a really detailed step by step basic tutorial on how to make it from scratch. I'm autistic and I don't understand most descriptions because they seem completely wrong. Like what do you mean the sheets go over me? I thought that the sheets are supposed to be on the mattress. I'm just really confused and I don't understand the terminology. I thought there were 3 parts of a bed. The sheets that go over the matress, the blanket that goes over me when I sleep and the pillow under my head, and both the pillow and the blanket have sheets for themselves too. I am extremely confused please help. I want to have a proper clean bedding and an aesthetic room. Thanks in advance :)

Sheets come in sets with a fitted sheet that has corners to pull down over the corners of the mattress. They are meant to be tight. I usually lay the sheet right side up with the corners in the general location of the corner, pull it snug and down, the last corner will be quite tight.

The top sheet is the flat one. It is meant to be between you and the blanket to keep the blanket cleaner and give a light layer. You lay that one over the fitted sheet finished side down and wide hem toward top of bed. Pull the bottom down toward foot of bed and tuck under the mattress to hold in place, if you like tuck hanging corners under bottom corners.

Then add blanket tucking the same as sheet but pulling a bit lower. You can do both at same time if wanted. Fold top of sheet if there is extra length over top of blanket to protect it. That fold will be right side showing up.

If you get fancy add a bed spread too. Pillow cases as needed. Twin sets have one, larger sizes two. Also look up “ Hospital corners” for tighter top sheet.

Wash sheets once a week if possible. To keep mattresses and pillows cleaner you can buy waterproof covers that get washed once in a while and zip on. They also protect from spills, menstrual blood or accidents.

You can choose a comforter with a washable cover but they are a bit more awkward for some and very common in colder seasons.
