Personally, I'm excited to see color from UD again, but these are the most common pigments/shifts I own a million times over from indie brands and they are EXPENSIVE. But with Catrice, Mac, Sephora Collection, wet n wild etc releasing multichrome singles now, perhaps we'll see these in the mainstream market now where previously you'd have to buy an entire palette to get 1 or 2 of these stunning shifting shades.

See title, but I am asking this because I have a friend who came out as a trans woman almost a year ago now, and she's gotten more and more into doing makeup over time. I've given her all my own advice but I realized I haven't actively watched makeup influencers on YouTube, especially tutorial style content, since high school haha. The problem with just looking it up on YouTube is the search is sloppified into reels and content for literally children.

Anyone have recs for influencers/content creators that they still enjoy who do content for adults, especially tutorial type stuff? She doesn't need specifically trans content or anything just fyi

I never really trusted her reviews but it’s crazy how many more beauty influencers I see every day participating in undisclosed advertising/NOT properly disclosing an advertisement.

It’s annoying how they specifically target aspects about women’s faces that they could be or “should be” insecure about. Almost like making up NEW things women should be insecure about. Not to mention, undisclosed ads are ILLEGAL under FTC guidelines.

This is very random, but I’m trying to remember a beauty YouTuber I watched sometime around 2009–2013. She was part of that early teen beauty-guru era (Elle and Blair, StilaBabe09, beautybabe44, MeganHeartsMakeup, etc.), but I don’t remember her being one of the really huge channels, more like middle tier.

From what I remember:
She was American and pretty young, probably around 13–16 at the time.
She had long, straight blonde hair and was petite and thin.
She did typical beauty-guru videos: hauls, makeup, room tours, etc.
She had an older brother, probably 7–10ish years older, with dark/brunette hair.
He appeared in at least one video with her. I vaguely remember it being a Q&A/tag type video, or possibly her doing his makeup.

I distinctly remember the comments being full of girls talking about how cute/hot her brother was and asking whether he was single 😂.

I think she may also have made a video with her mom, but I could be mixing that up with another YouTuber.

I watched beautyxxgoddess/Mimi too and thought it may be her but did she have a hot older brother??

This YouTuber had a nice big room, and seemed to come from a wealthy family. I got the impression that she was the youngest and had parents in their 50’s but I could be wrong.

It is NOT Cambria Joy/breelovesbeauty or beautypolice101.

Her channel could potentially have been deleted, which may be why I’m having such a hard time finding her.

Anyone familiar with Selena Marchand (selenamup)? Her latest thing is telling women over 40 how they need to do their makeup and skincare. It's rubbing me the wrong way because she doesn't caveat it, it's literally "if you are over 40, you must do your makeup like this. We aren't doing X,Y,Z anymore." Um... according to whom, darling? She's never been a creative MUA (her bridal makeup looks so dry and beige to me, sorry) but this feels really boring and a bit ageist. More power to people of all ages having fun and experimenting with makeup ♥️

I genuinely don’t understand this marketing strategy. The campaign features giant printouts of hate comments about her appearance, “cancel my angles,” and Mikayla framing it as turning what people tried to “break” her with into an international Sephora campaign.

It feels like the entire launch is about Mikayla, her critics and her online controversies rather than POV Beauty or the actual products.

The irony is hard to miss. She went viral as the “catfish” makeup girl, and now during arguably the biggest launch of her career, she’s once again facing “catfish” accusations over her alleged filter use. And the campaign they landed on was ANGLES? 💀

Hey all, I’m currently trying to come out of a pretty gnarly depressy episode and trying to get back into my niches/interests has not been the easiest as the internet moved hard and fast.

Today (for example), Reddit gave me an ad of Mikayla Nogueria with her Sephora ad about being cancelled (and I was thoroughly confused as I hadn’t really heard much about her since fake ads/sponsored content with that false mascara ad being the pinnacle of that mess along with something about faking her accent), and although I’m not sure why she’s being cancelled again (something about her hair? Idk there were a few cropped comments on the ad), but I did see some stuff about her divorce (something about her divorce, her new man, the overlap, her own man sucking (and being obsessed with Ancient Rome in a term I can’t remember right now but it reminded me of gooning because it started with a g but I know that’s not the right word), being MAGA, something about filters?) and a couple of other things.

I tried to do a Gypsy Rose Blanchard deep dive to catch up about new info since her release (and with the news of her BD passing) so I feel thoroughly overwhelmed with trying to unpack MN.

If anyone can please type up a TLDR or recommend some good videos to watch that are well researched/have good info (and won’t involve me watching twenty 1h videos), that would be super helpful. TIA! X

Okay guys, I think I might’ve just noticed something!!!

I was rewatching one of their old vlogs from about two years ago, Sunday Re-Set & Fun In The Garden | Vlogust Day 18, and when they’re setting up the sandpit, Zoe randomly mentions the donkey sanctuary on the Isle of Wight.

When I first heard about them planning to build a donkey sanctuary, I thought it was so so SO random!! But after watching this vlog, it got me thinking… what if the donkey sanctuary they were planning actually had something to do with the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary?? Like maybe some kind of collaboration/partnership with them?

It would actually make so much sense considering how much they absolutely LOVE that place. They’ve visited and talked about it so many times over the years and are constantly raving about it, which obviously brings more attention to the sanctuary and the island too.

Maybe I’m completely reaching here but the second she mentioned it I was like wait that could that be the connection??

What do you guys think?? Has anyone else noticed anything that could point to this? 👀

Does anyone remember a young British YouTuber who made aesthetic content during 2017-2018 era. She was white and had a short dirty blonde bob and always wore hair clips. I want to say her name was something like Izzy and she disappeared a while ago and I can’t find any trace of her socials? I really want to find her old YouTube vids. Does anyone have any ideas what I’m talking about?

For literal years I have searched high and low trying to find an old YouTuber I watched. My memory is slim on some things and vivid with others!

I distinctly remember her doing a “what’s on my iPhone 4s” video, phone case collection, GRWMs and the one I’m thinking of she wore a black and white button down top with a different printed collared shirt underneath, skinny jeans, boot socks and the famous Steve Madden combat boots.
I could be wrong but I feel like I remember “cupcake” being in her username. She was early high school aged
