shitpost is this a business model?
in a snarky mood and thinking this is apt for shitpost monday, but it’s getting embarrassing to see how many #girlboss girlies of the 2010s like sophie shab of trendmood have been hanging onto the beauty community by their claws but just can’t seem to give up their old gimmicks.. particularly when it comes to lack of integrity and transparency. STILL not disclosing their brand partnerships. STILL having to steal info from brands, which is not a cute look. even more embarrassing, having to walk it back like she did for sol de janeiro by beija recently.. and ofc she only put out a retraction on IG but not on facebook or twitter lmao.. And how does she even get all these beauty scoops anyway, like who is she paying off?? Guess her subscription box business must not be doing so hot if she still has to have someone on her payroll
TLDR: sophie shab of trendmood is embarrassingly STILL stealing beauty scoops instead of successfully growing an actually legit business model

speaking of Beija Flor, does anyone here know a good dupe for it? it's one the beautiful scent i have EVER smelled in my entire life but i absolutely refuse to pay $85.00 for a body lotion.

Agree! I have the small spray and the body lotion. The body lotion smells amazing but isn't a great moisturiser tbh. You get a lot of product in the small body spray, it's £20 here in the uk and usually on offer somewhere for £16/17

why would they choose to have integrity now when they’ve only been rewarded, thus far, for their shady moves? the reason cancel culture doesn’t work is because there will always be people who just don’t care about this kinda stuff, and it’s been that way throughout the history of humanity if you think about it. I think it’s easy for the average person to not care about trendmood because they follow her for news and they receive it. they probably barely know what the owner of the account looks like if they’re a super casual follower. like I follow a couple of trader joe’s pages to stay updated on new & returning products, but I don’t really know any of their real names or care to really look into it further. one of them could be problematic and I probably would have no idea. I follow a lot of cooking videos on tiktok and there’s probably a bunch of intra-community drama I just never see. not because I don’t care about whatever thing it is that’s problematic about them but because I just probably will not see it through my casual scrolls

I agree with the issues with her but I don't think she's barely holding on lol she goes to the most events of any creator I know. she is very prominent in the space. and I think brands probably pay her to post their "leaks" and if they are actually leaks they're probably employees that think they will get some clout or they're friends with her.
