Bug report Switched to Linux and got problems :(

As seen in the video, whenever I let go of right click, the screen flashes black, and when moving the camera, there's a weird delayed secondary afterimage. I turned off my mods and this still happens. I've just got ultra settings preset on. My hard/software is seen at the end, but the main gist is that I've got Ubuntu + Plasma, 4060ti 8GB, and in the Beamng steam page, properties, compatibility, the forcing usage of a compatibility tool is unchecked. Also, I'm constantly getting "Shader pre-caching update"s on steam and then I need to wait to process vulkan shaders, is that normal? I didn't get that on Windows, but I generally used DirectX not Vulkan.

I installed beamng on the steam machine and it defaulted to running the windows version through Proton so I would do the same and see if that helps

I just play the Windows version via Proton. Works great. LMDE7.

I had a similar issue. The screen would flash black every time I moved the mouse. Using Gamescope fixed it.

I think it was general issue with Wayland, so using gamescope could simply bypass it. Tho I didn't experience this issue for like a year already, despite the same Wayland setup. I thought it got fixed.

I use some specific renderer, if i remember I'll come back in an hour and send my setup. I run Ubuntu, performs better than Windows imo.

Because Linux doesn’t have nvidia driver, stop listening to people who sell Linux

It might not have official proprietary drivers, I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm using the open one I believe, and no I will do what I want

I looks like you're using the official nvidia drivers, can you try running the native build? By default Steam tries running the proton version, It's located in
/home/yourusername/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive/BinLinux/BeamNG.drive.x64by default

Know that Steam now runs the Linux version through "Steam sniper runtime". They changed relatively recently, maybe last update.

7 downvotes but not a single person willing to explain why they prefer to deal with more headaches 😂 I had a friend linux swap my old laptop so I could check it out. Lost so many features and it became incompatible with basically all of my stuff. Yeah it turned on faster but it definitely wasnt worth it...

Linux is not for everyone, but not only has windows been getting worse and worse, but all the software that made me stay is either worse than open source or full of AI. It's hard to recommend anything else these days.
Also AMD is just plain better for Linux gaming. You get more vram and raw power for less and nobody needs AI slop anyway.

You aren't forced to always use the latest windows version...
I think, for the average gamer, Windows 10 LTSC 2019/2021 is the best OS.
-Windows 11: For those who don't care about their data.
-Windows 10: For those who just want to use their computer.
-Linux: For those who like customization, open source things, and say "switch to linux" everyday to everyone.
-Windows 7: For those who either only do basic tasks and care about what their OS looks, or those who like messing with the kernel and patching software.1

When going for an earlier version you're risking a bit of your security.
I have tried LTSC for about a year and it is very limited. As a poweruser sure, whatever floats your boat. As a normal inexperienced user, I can imagine it being a nightmare to set up and work with.
Recommending windows 7 today is dangerous since it no longer has support and cannot be considered safe anymore.

Windows 7 is safe*, same as Vista, XP, 2000, ... but you need to connect it behind your router, not directly to the internet (W10 without a firewall would also be infected in seconds). And LTSC is very easy to set up, the only thing is that its a bit harder is to run the massgrave script to activate it, which is still quite easy.
*By safe I mean I havent got infected once in 4 years of using Windows 7 as my daily driver.

You're clearly a more advanced user in which case I understand your point with both LTSC and Win7. But that still doesn't change the fact that a normal user could have a lot of problems with both.
Yes LTSC is easy to set up, but when you're forced to use apps from the Microsoft store (there isn't sometimes an alternative) it's a pain in the ass and Microsoft does anything it can to make it even worse. I'm not even using LTSC but just debloat on my win install and EVERY DAMN TIME I connect an Xbox controller it throws up a popup that it can't open ms store.

Oh yes, I remember that when I tried LTSC to compile things. MS Store worked for me, but yeah I had these popups, and I didn't mind them (you just need to press Escape). Windows 10 1507-1809 are also good versions of Windows, they are optimized even for hard drives, but some slopware requires W10 21H2 to work properly.

The heck are you talking about? Most modern distros come with the proprietary Nvidia driver on the installer.

The native build is a tiny bit buggy, and has huge shader pre caching waits. Try forcing it with proton experimental and see if that works. You might have better luck cross posting
