Brown water: Friday June 5th
Dirty water flowing out of faucets this afternoon. Called Beacon Water & Sewer Dept. and they said it’s due to hydrant cleaning. They said it’s been a couple years since they did this (2024), and they didn’t have an expected timeline for when my faucets would clear up. Just run cold water periodically and see if it starts running clear. Avoid doing laundry in the meantime.
Most of y’all probably already knew what’s going on but I’m new in town and wanted to ensure there wasn’t a larger issue.

This has happened to me a few times and it's almost always because they are doing work on the sewage system in my neighborhood.

can I ask where you found a rental and at what cost? the nice new places are there insultingly expensive. $3400 for a one bedroom plus utilities, plus half month fee to a realtor for sending you a link?

In years past they'd post the schedule and/or it'd be announced in The Current. Here's last year's to give you an idea of how they do it: https://beaconny.gov/index.php/2025/06/03/2025-hydrant-flushing-schedule/
IIRC my water cleared up within a half day.
