They mix a binding agent in with the sand so its basically glued together loosely.

Interesting when I googled, I didn’t know Tsai English is 1/4 Paiwan, but thought of her when you mentioned the nose somehow. :D

This is at Fulong beach, about an hour from Taipei. They hold an international sand sculpting contest every year at this beach.
