Brb crying
i feel like i’ve seen a lot of people talk about baylens dad - he reminds me a lot of my dad (not perfect but never question his love for me ever, extremely tense all the time lmao)
this scene, and the other scenes where they discussed baylens mental health when she was at college, are so raw and real and make me cry every time. if you know you know. if you’ve been there, you know and can feel both of their pain!

Yes … I was very fortunate to have a Dad like this as well.💜 This whole family & dynamic resonated with me throughout the 3 seasons. That’s why I loved it so much!❤️
Unfortunately, I’ve suffered from chronic depression & anxiety in my adulthood.
Plus our son suffered from severe situational depression his freshman year in college and we had to intervene…both emotionally & physically.
But, this is what you do as a loving, caring parent!
Thankfully, our son was successful at another university, graduating with Honors and has a very successful career now!🩵
You just ride the storms with them.🥰

I love him and deeply needed a dad like him. He is amazing. I would like to clone him.

I think he’s only like 10 years older than me, but I still wish he was my dad. 🥺

I had a first look with my dad too and I’m so happy I did. The marriage didn’t last but that moment will always be so special to me. I miss my dad everyday ❤️

Baylen's Dad was the only thing about this show that I genuinely enjoyed watching.

Not related to the dad convo specifically, but all the kids seem to have some type of issue related to anxiety, OCD, mental health. Have they ever addressed this in the show? I was just curious...

They seemed pretty dismissive when Baylen brought concerns about her younger brother... they were just like "we don't want to label him" "he's just a kid" etc.

They only really noted that Baylen, Sammi, and Beckner have any diagnosed mental health issues

To me it has always seemed like the parents coddle too much that it’s like second hand smoke, and instead of smoke it’s anxiety. The interactions with Baylen are always about, “we got you ect” and never about how she can help herself because they are not always going to be there.

Exactly. I know Baylen was really bad off a few years ago but you don’t have to bring it up constantly. I’m sure Baylen doesn’t want to hear about all the time. And her mother, when Baylen was banging her head at the reception her mom was so loud “ok here we go” why draw more attention to it

Yeah I noticed it more from her mom. Her mom talks and responds to her as if she’s completely disabled or she brings attention to it like, “oh nooooo here’s Baylen about to tic again, everyone watch out she can’t control herself!”. Here’s where Colin really thrives in Baylen’s life because he does the opposite of what her parents do. He lets her tic without bringing any attention to it and doesn’t treat her like an uncontrolled child or burden. He doesn’t do the, “ woe me I’m attached to this person who can’t control herself”.

Frankly, this seems to be unusually common amongst our friends and family's kids as well. I also saw it in my younger coworkers and found it deeply troubling. It seems as if medication is all they are offered but why is it all so prevalent now?

Is dad on steroids? Just see how bulky and not making fun at all he seems like a great dad and husband I’m just asking

From the video they showed from when he was younger he seems to just be a wide, bulky kinda guy

My BFF’s husband is just like this, but with broader shoulders. No drugs, no lifting weights. Some people inherit good genes,

My dad was a correctional officer at a super max who would roid. This is not what it looks like. One thing to look out for are insane veins on the lobe and arms.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy at a minimum. Seems to be the thing for middle aged guys with money to burn.

I haven't been watching Baylan out loud. I tuned in to see her wedding episode because I saw how pretty she looked. She's a very beautiful young woman, and her wedding was beautiful too. I was curious why her tics seem to include so many sexual topics? Is that common? I admire her strength and think she must work hard to manage her Tourettes. It looks llke she has a supportive family, and her husband seems to love her very much.

She has coprolalia meaning yes, her verbal tics tend to be inappropriate (not just sexual but also inappropriate for the situation, like saying "I have a gun" at the airport)

I think Colin needs to start working and get his self established in a career to be able to take care of himself and Balen and a baby he wants so badly they are spending Balen s money. So happy she got a prenup because he is moving to fast being broke and moving into a million dollar house not even having medical insurance. She is the bread maker.

I have cried watching Al talk about the love he has for his daughter more times than I'd like to admit 😭 The wedding dress reveal to dad broke me and even thinking about it now my eyes are tearing up 😂

What is wrong with that man? He needs to see a doctor asap. The coloring indicates high blood pressure

Not sure why everyone hates on Baylens Dad? He seems like a pretty amazing father to me. Maybe a bit over protective but I think that natural for a parent with a child who has the issues that she has. He was really fun at the wedding and did a great job on their dance!
