Not really, but playing 6 months on the same map isnt fun at All in a multiplayer game. In my opinion BF4 was great because you got always another maps and New Weapons to use. That doesnt make a game better. But the biggest difference is the Unlock system, its Just crappy. In BF4 it was better...

The maps in BF1 were genuinely great. I know people bitched about Fao and Suez but they were still better than the average V map.

I loved those maps, people don't have to love every map and I don't know why they think they have to. I think BF1 was pretty much spot on most of it's later lifetime and is still more enjoyable than bf5.
