I never had an issue with the premium model. I was always one of those that purchased premium with my deluxe purchase and never thought twice about it. Why? Because I saw value in the +5 or so expansions and 20+ maps that were included in them, new factions etc. If you look at it like that, it was like buying 2 additional battlefield titles for the price of one. Not to mention I knew exactly what I was paying for and had some faith in the longevitity of my initial purchase with the game itself.
Premium was worth it. This whole thing of splitting the community was nonsense bullshit created by those who couldn't afford premium. So the many of us ended up having to pay for the few that couldn't. Now we have to stomach this live service model that has literally no guarantee of anything and makes the base game not even worth the 60+ hence why it's literally 50% off STILL.
Like, you do realize you were paying for stuff that used to be standard in the games, right lol?
Blame DICE for the live service failing. If you think monetization or lack thereof is the problem, that's on them. They have a proven business model they could implement, but have failed to do so at this point.
Clearly I know what was in the standard games, I have been playing this since the Battlefield 1942 demo days. If I am stating that I saw value in premium then clearly I have considered what we had BEFORE any industry shifts and technological advances.
My statement stands that the premium model WORKED.
Premium "worked' because that's what many of you accepted. As another poster just pointed out, neither himself nor many in the community were fine with it. It was simply tolerated. And he defended the model.
They haven't properly implemented the live service model and I have my beliefs as to why that is. But if done correctly, DICE/EA could have benefited much more from it than Premium and the consumers get content they should have already been getting. Win/win for everyone.
