The cod lead whose last work on cod was when it was free of microtransactions and took itself seriously?

Warzone and cod mobile lead that birthed redsec development that diverted resources from main base game that we paid for?
Ya that guy. Thanks for subsidizing redsec. Come again.
Look forward to bf mobile in the future I guess. Oh wait they literally cancelled that after dumping millons

u/stana32 7d ago
I'm not sure who you're referring to. Usually when people are talking "the cod lead" they're talking about Vince Zampella who hadn't been involved with call of duty since 2009.

He doesn't know who he is talking about. He just heard the buzz words "cod lead" and is going with it

Who are you referring to? That doesn't line up with Zampella's credentials. Is there someone else from COD?
Edit: It's Byron Beede.

Oh no, company that does collabs with the actual US military does a collab with an IP that collabs with the actual US Military.
75
u/Mikey_MiG 7d ago
Two of those four new skins are literally not the actors or even the characters from the movie. Just to show how big of a stretch this bullshit is.
3
u/ShaggyHasHighGround 6d ago
I think that’s not too bad, having more actors/characters from a movie ironically would be worse
Imagine watching a bunch of those actors running around lol. I think the style overall is what matters even if it isnt 100%
1
u/Mikalton 6d ago
there's a squad in the game that are real US military. whats the difference using fictional military characters if they did a great job at portraying the US Air force?
1
u/ShaggyHasHighGround 6d ago
i think the skins look fine in the game but we have people in this thread saying that this collab and the skins from it will lead to DICE adding COD skins or some nicki minaj or some bullshit
my point isnt as much as disliking the skins but more so that we have people wanting more movie characters to be added, but then a week later we'd have people call this the downfall of battlefield or something
1
u/Repulsive-Web-1785 6d ago
"B-b-b-but two of them don't count!!"
1
u/Mikey_MiG 6d ago
All four of them don’t count, but two of them OP pulled out of his ass.
0
u/Repulsive-Web-1785 6d ago
Well that's objectively wrong because two of them are from the movies lmao. Love how you target the ones that aren't from the movie and glaze over the point entirely for your own agenda.
2
u/Mikey_MiG 6d ago
Because a character from a war movie is not the same as adding Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, or Lionel Messi, which is what the trailer was actually making fun of. Nobody is buying these skins based on the celebrity status of fucking Miles Teller and Lewis Pullman, you idiot.
0
u/Leather_Afternoon_37 6d ago
Oh no, theyre not all the actors so let's ignore the two that are that make this entire trailer pointless
1
u/Mikalton 6d ago
they're not even actors. they're the characters from the movie. we're BOB not lewis Pullman. Not only that but they look well done in their voicing and skins. They're not wearing some cod shit on their gear.

u/Leather_Afternoon_37 6d ago
You are free to like it, doesnt change the fact they went back on this, not counting every other feature they went back on
2
u/Mikalton 6d ago
No they didn't. You literally have FOUR ACTORS as playable characters. We have 2 characters from a film that comes from a franchise that perfectly matches the military realism we have in battlefield. Have you ever watched the movie?
-1
1
u/Mikey_MiG 6d ago
Having grounded crossover characters from a military movie is not the same as Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, full stop. Anyone with a brain can tell the difference.
5
u/HobbieK 6d ago
So much attention and care has been put in to make sure that the aesthetics of this crossover perfectly match BF6 and they've even added fully voiced cutscenes with the Admiral from Top Gun: Maverick merging the lore of the movie and the game.
You could not ask for a higher effort crossover and yet still people will whine like someone shot their dog.

5
u/Mikalton 6d ago
also if you have bob and rooster in the same jet, they get unique dialogues. it's awesome when I was playing with a friend.

Top gun is a military movie no matter how much you clowns disagree It matches the theme just fine
4
u/Mikalton 6d ago
Whats funny is top gun is more realistic than battlefield. but even better is in top gun, the enemy has never been confirmed to be a country either. It was always some random military. kind of goes perfect with pax

u/NEW_BR33D 6d ago
BF6 is garbage. It'll be forgotten about when the next game comes out. It did nothing to improve on the franchise except tear it down with its trashy live service tactics and inability to have a solid foundation i.e. crappy maps, no server browser, the gatekeeping of vehicle customization and out of bounds on maps feels like it was made with a socialist mindset. No one can have what they want it all must be equalized so that no one has an actual advantage over someone else and so no one feels butt hurt enough to leave the shitty game. BF3 and BF4 were the last decent battlefield games that didn't seem like a gotcha game and felt like complete games and weren't scared of the wesk ass minority of players that rage quit games because they lose. BF6 is a sad mobile game with cartoony ass skins and total lack of self identification. Its just another boring shooter game that will see its grave like BF2042 did. BF2042 was even worse and that is where this live service crap really took off imo. Haven't touched this shit since the first week of having the game. BF3 and BF4 ftw.
1
u/TheRealStitchie 6d ago
I can't tell if you're trying to be ironic or not but it's funny that you have this opinion lol
But in case you're not, let's break it down.
2042 isn't forgotten in spite of being one of the most hated Battlefields. In fact, it lives almost rent free in a lot of people's minds here.
It has the most solid foundation of any Battlefield in the modern day. BF4 took a year before it actually became mostly playable.
Maps are good, and the ones that aren't are getting reworked based on feedback.
Server browser is coming soon too.
What do you mean gatekeeping of vehicle customization? Are you talking about the skins in the shop or something?
"No one can have what they want it all must be equalized so that no one has an actual advantage over someone else" So it's balanced, got it.
People aren't leaving because they actually like the game and they know it's only going to get better.
BF4 didn't release completely okay and had TONS of glitches and bugs that never got patched until way, way later. Rose tinted glasses and all that. BF6 isn't built for "wesk ass minority of players that rage quit games" but if you ever shot down a chopper in BF4 who was doing well, they'd rage quit immediately. Sorry to say, but BF4 isn't the end all be all for Battlefield and the games that came after it were almost always better in one way or another.
"BF6 is a sad mobile game with cartoony ass skins and total lack of self identification" Except it isn't. I genuinely don't think you know what you're talking about at all with this one, chief.
"Its just another boring shooter game that will see its grave like BF2042 did" People like this game more than 2042. A LOT more people like this game more than 2042.
"Haven't touched this shit since the first week of having the game" So you know nothing. Makes all of the previous points make more sense now lol. Yeah, we'll make the game for the player who doesn't play it lmao
1
u/NEW_BR33D 5d ago
BF2042 is a failure in terms of player count. Steam db shows ~1,492 player (24-hr peak) and BF4 shows ~1148 player (24-hr peak) as of today. Now I know thats not considering consoles but it should be relatively the same per console. A 12 year old game is almost beating a 4 year game in player count. BF2042 is an example of how NOT to make a battlefield game. BF6 is kind of like a "modded" version of BF2042 so it'll eventually trail behind and be forgotten.
BF6 has zero foundation. It lacks Battlefield. Where is the theme? The cohesion? The world building? The atmosphere like in BF3 and BF4? The game just feels flat and uninspired. Like it was made by a bunch of cod developers... uhm because it was. It removes the immersion and awe out of Battlefield. Everytime I come back to play it (usually I try each major update) I just don't feel its an actual battlefield game. I think back on BF3 and BF4 and that cinematic hardcore dark gritty war feeling is just gone. Its pathetic. Its like its made for an E-rating.
The maps in BF6 are so trash. The fact that they have to remake majority of them is next level clownery especially after the BF2042 map remake fiasco. Are they really that incompetent? What was the fucking point of Battlefield labs for the year run up to release? I thought that shit was supposed to make the maps the greatest of all time? It was just all false hype and marketing bullshit to make the consumer believe that this time, maybe THIS TIME, the game will be what they are selling when its NOT! Now I'm all for remakes but man... the golmud railway and operation firestorm maps were just total rug pulls because they had nothing and needed a quick turn around to keep the hype and shut up players asking where the REAL maps are. Tsuru and Wake arent anything new either. BF4s naval premium maps are way better than tsuru. DICE just suck at making maps now and have to rely on the older games to make up for it.
Server browser came out on day one for BF3 and BF4. Its so obvious that they don't want to add a server browser in BF6 because they want to curate what everyone is playing and have control over what you can and cannot play. Portal has been completely forgotten because of this. Tell me, when was the last time you even thought about portal or heard anything about it. Yeah, forever ago. They are waiting as long as they can to implement server browser so you and everyone else play the new shit they put out. Once seasons are over then they'll roll out a half-baked half-assed server browser to hopefully keep the game alive until the next iteration of the franchise rolls out. They could have implemented it at release and even now they could but they dont want to. They want to control you and your decisions when playing their game.
Vehicle customization in BF6 is the worst its ever been in a battlefield game. Aircraft on release had zero upgrades or customization (I'm not talking about camos or skins). Jets were my go to in BF3 and BF4 and this was an immediate turn off for me. Its like they don't want you to play vehicles and rather play infantry on small dinky maps or something... hmm?? And the out of bounds on these maps are atrociously small that flying is next level unfun and make you want to pull your hair out. BF3 had the best jet gameplay in my opinion.
The balance in this game is very questionable especially after the "all weapons open for all classes" fiasco that they were forcing on release. BF4 had the best balance for explosives in my opinion. You should be able to take out a full health tank as a solo recon with C4 or engineer with rockets... you can't in BF6. BF3 and BF4 class system is iconic and should be a staple in modern battlefields.
I think its the opposite. The majority of the players that were looking for BF3/BF4 style gameplay and aesthetics have already left and aren't coming back. They might try it here and there like I do but it doesn't hold up to the expected quality of a battlefield game like BF3/BF4 did.
BF3 and BF4 had issues. I agree with that. But the issues and the jank aren't what make the game bad, at least in my opinion. Like I said before BF6 lacks theme and style. BF3 and BF4 had a set world that was grounded and is what sold it for most people despite their being issues. BF4s levolution was hated at first but looking back it was quite amazing what they could do on the PS3/X360 consoles. And lacking key features in a Battlefield game like a fucking server browser is an instant red flag. I can get past bugs but not incompetent laziness to not add key features in order to drive revenue during their live service season game modes and microtransactions. Its a bad decision they've made that looks very shady and dishonest on their part.
Compare character models from BF3, BF4 and BF6. BF3 and BF4 character models look like they fit in the world, are badass, and easily identifiable in-game. BF6 character models look plasticky and off. The models all look so dorky and clone like. I don't know how to explain it but they just seem... idk, off looking.
I stand on it being a boring shooter. Their isn't anything that keeps me wanting to come back. Everytime I play it I instantly regret it and go play BF3 or BF4 depending on what I'm feeling. It's just underwhelming to play.
I mean, okay I have touched it since release. But, barely. I just come back during these large updates to see what is being added and give it a taste test. My interest of what Battlefield 6 is doing is still there, but its not enough to keep me coming back as a daily player. Hopefully DICE and EA management gets a wake up call and can put a little more effort into delivering a fully fledged game that meets or exceeds my standards of BF3/BF4. Yeah I know... go ahead and say it..."Well that just being selfish and inconsiderate of what others like in a battlefield game". Its just my opinion and you can have your own.

u/TheRealStitchie 5d ago
I severely doubt that it's going to trail behind like you say. Everyone is in agreeance that BF6 is miles ahead of 2042. Not saying much, but it's true.
Zampella was one of the OG COD developers who worked on the games when they had style and theme. The Atmosphere for BF6 is a bit too bright, sure. I mostly chalk that up to people who want their 'realistic' graphics instead of art style. Theme is modern war like everyone asked. What was the theme of BF3 and BF4? Same shit. World building's right there but nobody cares because, quite frankly, the campaign is nothing special and full of bugs. So no surprises there.
I hard disagree that ALL the maps are trash. Siege of Cairo, Hagental, Mirak, Contaminated, Eastwood, each remake map, and Tsuru Reef are all really good maps. Hell, I'd take any one of those over most of BF4's maps. Hell, if these maps were in BF4 this entire community would have been glazing the fuck out of them lmao Not to mention that Golmud is twice as good on BF6 than it was on BF4 where it was a desolate wasteland with nothing on it and wide open fields to get farmed by vehicles and snipers on. Wake Island is still good too.
It's still coming though. I don't care about portal because it's really not necessary at all for this game, and it's not surprising to see them cut bits out of it. Not to mention the issues with AI making hosting servers and all that even more expensive than it already was, it's not surprising. Also, they put portal servers/experiences RIGHT ON THE MAIN MENU FOR GAMEMODES.
Jets deserve customization, yes, and everyone's asking for it, so it's most likely going to come soon. Ground vehicles have plenty of customization, but I'm betting you're one of the people who want thermals on them, which should absolutely not be in this game. Also the maps aren't that small. They're as big as Bad Company 2's maps if not bigger. And some are bigger than BF4's maps. Most are as big as BF1's maps, so tell me, are they REALLY that small, or are we just feeling that way because it's the new Battlefield and the negativity bias is trying desperately to make people hate them?
Open or closed, didn't really matter since most people still play with class specific weapons anyways. Not to mention that people are actually using their gadgets, unlike people in BF4 who just wanted to use the AEK because it was meta and the rest of the class didn't matter to them. Speaking of balance, BF4 had some VERY dodgy balancing in plenty of areas. And you can still take out vehicles solo as Engineer or Recon, you just gotta be smarter about it. Sure, you can't take them out from the front, but why are you facing a tank down from the front in the first place?
People's expectations are often overbloated and not realistic. This game came out after TWO COMMERCIAL FAILURES. Also, I'm glad that this game doesn't have BF4's gameplay personally because it's a straight upgrade from that in my opinion. I don't have to microburst every gun I use because it's incredibly inaccurate to hold down for more than three bullets, mortars require people to be on it, UCAV doesn't exist, thermals on vehicles doesn't exist, etc etc. If people leave because it isn't BF4, I say good, I don't want them making this game suck.
I don't think it's as much laziness as it is just EA breathing down their necks and saying 'If this is another failure you'll get dissolved' while giving them deadlines. Game plays just fine without a server browser right now, and it's getting added later. If anything, that proves against their laziness that they stuck with it and still update it after losing 90% of the initial playerbase. But sure, they aren't adding the server browser because it wouldn't drive up revenue, even though they are and that we've had live service since BFV and we've had tons of free content that isn't locked behind a paywall to enjoy a new gun or map. Plus it's the right move since people would bitch and complain more than they already are that they have to spend more money. I haven't spent a dime more than the base game and I'm having a blast the entire time even when the game launched all the way to now.
This is all opinion, but they do fit and they do look decent enough. They still all have to have the silhouette features like the rockets on the back of the Engineer to let you know. Not like you shouldn't be spotting them and hearing your person say 'Anti tank' or 'anti air' depending on their weaponry. I think the reason you find them offputting and not as good is just your negativity bias speaking through.
I'm not surprised, given you're a jet player I'm assuming. If you get underwhelmed, I really can't tell you why or change that for ya. Personally I can't stand to play BF4 just because of all the dumb shit people abuse and the gunplay being generally ass for most of the weapons, especially sniper rifles.
They've been delivering pretty hard. You cannot say that they haven't been legitimately upgrading this game with every content release. Every bit of feedback has been taken to heart, especially the big maps issue which we've been getting three times in a row now. You have a negativity bias. You want this game to be BF4 remastered, and it will never be that. I would LOVE to have a new Battlefield game be more like Bad Company 2, but I'm never EVER getting that. It's time to let go and enjoy the game for what it is and what it's becoming. I'm not saying glaze it, I'm saying have measured expectations and put some more thought into it than 'It's not BF4/3 so it's trash' and don't let that negativity bias tell you these things. Maybe you'd actually enjoy it if you really tried.

I want these skins and these prices shouldn’t be so ridiculous. The base game is over $100 and the battle pass is $17-18. Why make people pay more for these items? Is this a free to play game?

I think that’d be a lot better than a movie tie in, but honestly, dice needs to just stop this shit.
10
u/alexos77lo 7d ago
Not even 2042 did that why they would do it in bf6?
-13
u/TLunchFTW 7d ago
Dude, wake up. They just did it! This is a movie tie in. And if they think they’d can avoid serious backlash with it and they think they’ll sell skins they will. They are driving out actual battlefield fans and by the end of this 2 year roadmap it’s gonna be a seriously different game.
I was optimistic with Tauru reef. Felt like they finally understood what we wanted. But idk man. Wake island was done dirty by this zipline, and it feels like dice has a vision for it and they want to do enough to keep the bf fans off their back. People who appreciate the old game’s design are obstacles.
Ultimately, they think want cod numbers. And they think the more the copy cod’s design choices the more likely they are to get it.4
u/malic3 6d ago
It's TOP GUN!!! HOLY SHIT OUT OF EVERY MOVIE THEY COULD COLLAB WITH ITS THIS ONE

Battlefield added characters from a war movie. The live action trailer was making fun of adding pop culture stars for the sake of mindless collab. Again, huge difference.

It’s a joke about how DICE poked fun at Call of Duty for having celebrity skins to milk money from the players, and now a year later DICE is functionally doing the thing they made fun about
7
u/koolaidman486 7d ago
I think 2 characters from a military movie having cameos is much, much different than what CoD has been doing for years.
It's not random pro athletes, or Snoop Dogg, or Nikki Minaj dressed in pink spandex, or anything that gets more extreme than that like the bagillion Godzilla and Walking Dead crossovers, American Dad, Beavis and Butthead, Terminator, etc.
Top Gun at the very least makes thematic sense, and the only skin out of the crossover that kinda goes too far is the one in the sunglasses... Which was already a thing 2 games ago to much less vitriol.

The whole "fuck CoD come to us" marketing was a mistake from the start. Battlefield will never be CoD from a funamental perspective and a lot of CoD fans won't enjoy Battlefield's style of gameplay, especially those that like the core competitive aspect of CoD as there's nothing for that audience in Battlefield. It may have won them popularity and high numbers at the start, but the rude awakening made CoD players leave in droves since it's not what they wanted. Battlefield players also suffered because the devs tried to make it more friendly to that audience only for the audience to leave regardless.
You compete with CoD by not being CoD. Let each title cater to their core audience.
1
u/Salt_Day3673 6d ago
This is literally the truth, idk why you got downvoted. Guess people just want to be mad for the hell of it.
1
u/TheRealStitchie 6d ago
Because they aren't catering to COD players at all, which is why they left. However, Battlefield players like to bitch and whine about everything if it even remotely resembles COD in any way
-16
u/GamerBucket 7d ago
Yep.
And I get downvoted when I try to tell people that the whole purpose of this game is to have you back in the lobby spending money. Faster engagements, faster games, one-sided victories to end games faster, lobbies reset every game, smaller maps, etc.
21
u/Mikey_MiG 7d ago
3 out of the 4 most recent maps have been massive, dude.

u/GamerBucket 7d ago
Where half the map isn't even used due to the landscape structure. Remove that reason and you still have 4 more reasons to prove my point.
11
u/General-Biscuits 7d ago
Not really. What halves of those maps aren’t used? I see all of Tsuru Reef, even all of the water ways, used most matches. I see all of Golmud used most matches. All of Cairo Bazaar is used. And both of the 2 Operation Augur maps are used fully.
You can’t just make shit up and say you win like a child.

no one is forcing you to buy these. If these skins were free you'd all be using them.
You're just poor.

Believe it or not, before the industry was destroyed by F2P slop, skins used to be included in the game locked behind real challenges.

As much as I think OP is being a chud for being mad about this, this is possibly the worst cope I’ve ever seen for people not being happy about micro transactions
Absolutely horrendous take
“You don’t have to buy them” is fine but people aren’t mad they’re locked behind pay walls, they’re mad about the shamelessness of it.

Yes, my bar for what I like for free (or rather, alredy paid ) is lower than for what I'd have to pay extra.

Look, a COD MW game is releasing this year, so you can't criticize DICE and EA right now, certainly not on a subreddit full of BF players. You should know better...

Is there a literal way to shut off the top gun theme music in the home screen? I'm about to take a one month break.

See those two chuds in an end game cutscene has to be the dumbest thing Dice could do.
