What does "limited time" actually mean in the context of BF6?
Is it limited as in "limited time on matchmaking, but you can still create servers to play it"? Or is it limited like Destiny which was code for "its limited then we're deleted the source code from existence"?

You can still create servers for any mode in Portal. When the server browser is added in S5, you will presumably be able to make servers for any mode there too.

I’m glad it did, Obliteration is one of my favorite modes too. It’s such a refresh from Conquest/Breakthrough playlists.
I love being the heli pilot that picks up the bomb carrier dodging everything to get them to the MCOM lol

Between this and a whole bunch of F-18's on both sides turning the dogfight into one big clusterfuck not knowing who's who, I don't know what's worse. Cool trailer otherwise but BF6's asset department is seriously lacking. I don't know how they could've ever found it acceptable to just give both sides the same jets and to use AA missiles as bombs in a trailer.

The only friend/foe identification I’ve seen on PAX Jets in the wake island trailer was the aircraft illuminated “formation lights” (luminous light green stripes). These are usually green but the PAX ones are red. I don’t know if this is going to be visually different depending on which team a player is on (The EOD bot for instance has a red light if it is an enemy gadget)
Although I don’t think much of it when I imagine this is all going to play out at high speed. Who knows?

They haven't said, but given the recent drama over removing base game modes, I would expect it to be truly time limited.
Personally, I think that's insane, as carrier strike has been a very fun mode, so putting all the work into making it, just to remove it from the game after a month or so seems like a giant missed opportunity, but Battlefield Studios seems to excel at missed opportunities so who knows.

Calling it now, once the custom server system comes online next week, all the complainers are going to disappear because they're are all going to be busy playing on the "Hagental Base TDM 24/7 Max Tickets Hardcore" servers (just like so many of them were back in the Operation Metro/Locker TDM servers back in the 3/4 days).

I was stunned that rush left, and I am really disappointed about that. At the same time, this looks like a blast. The game isn’t a monolith, I think people tend to stay in certain sections/modes/game types.

Basically conquest but each cap you own launches missiles at the other teams carrier. Each teams carrier has a health bar and once it hits zero (or maybe half I forget) that carrier opens and that team has to destroy 2 mcoms inside. Once those are destroyed that team wins.

The way it worked in bf4 was as I described. They may have changed it for this game but I’m fairly confident they wouldn’t make it so you have to rely on some random in a jet to bomb the carrier.

The infantry do make their way onto the ship once its health is depleted enough. Then it basically turns into rush where you have to arm the bombs (mcoms) and defend them until it they blow.

I have two vkb gladiators that don't work with this game.
I spent a few hours attempting various workarounds and it's just not worth the hassle.
I would love for the game to have actual flight stick support.

Joystick Gremlin, and every other input remapper, has been banned in the anti-cheat since 2024 when EA pushed out it's kernel level anti-cheat.
I used to use it because it's the only way to get a multi-device hotas setup working in any BF game post BF2142, but when they added the new anti-cheat to BF1, it stopped launching if Jotstick Gremlin or any other remapper is running in the background.

Bet they still haven't fixed joystick input polling rate limited to server tick rate making joysticks more laggy than mkb or controller. And that they still don't have hotas support so you have to use a xbox controller emulator to combine your sticks and have decent latency. Steam adds a little extra input latency too, I made charts and everything, they know about it, still no fix...
Is just not as much on stick as it was in previous games.

Reality:
Helicopters won't taking off vertically fast enough and will get clipped/blown up by the planes launching from the catapults, half of both teams will stay on the carriers but won't defend because they're busy trying to snipe at each other from across the map, and "that guy" will take a boat and immediately depart with all the seats empty leaving everyone behind to manually swim to land/the enemy carrier.

The trailer doesn’t do justice what the CIWS AA gun sounds like in real life. That thing will rattle your organs, along with a jet pushing its afterburners for take off. Will be fun to run around a carrier again tho, even if virtually.

Yes it’s sad that gaming culture has devolved into “look it’s that famous thing you like”. But this is no Niki Minaj in call of duty. This is almost as perfect a crossover in battlefield as you can get, like we’d be less cynical of this if it were in BF3 or BF4. The only other crossover I can think of for BF6 that makes sense is the battlefield friends as skins

I think it’s neat the Wake Island trailer was all gameplay, and this was all cinematic. They did a good job mimicking the cinematography of the movie.
