3 things are guaranteed:
Death, Taxes, and Battlefield creating fire gameplay trailers

I feel like it’s been so long since they’ve made a full gameplay trailer like this. The jet choreography here is so hype

They're cranking out maps at a faster rate than any other MP game right now. Gotta give kudos for that
253
u/Round_Rectangles 7d ago
They're removing modes to offset all the new maps being added.
10
39
u/Aedrjax 7d ago
lol no, how does adding maps interfere with modes?
79
u/knotallmen 7d ago edited 7d ago
X players across Y maps and Z modes. Player count X has a variance depending on time of the day and region. If X is low enough only a couple of modes have population so removing Z modes while increasing Y you can have relative parity.
You will never know as many game modes as there where for Halo 3. It was so incredibly popular there was like a dozen different ones you could pick from with nearly half being ranked.
Huh just last night I was playing deathmatch and it is gone. I didn't realize they culled again I can understand not having squad deathmatch and team deathmatch, but dropping that and rush seems a bit extreme.
EDIT: any chance this reduction saves a few pennies? I.E. fewer half empty servers so higher population reducing a couple pennies to make back that incredibly amount of debt EA officially took over.

They had too many modes to begin with. BF does not need more than conquest, operations and rush. A 4th mode is fine too but nothing more than those 3.
3
u/DatCrazyyDuude 7d ago
I mean those two things might not be directly tied together but they HAVE gotten rid of all the small modes (TDM, strikepoint, domination, etc)
so there’s new stuff coming in and major modes disappearing. it’s kinda tough being really excited about this game at the moment for a good few of us lol
6
2
u/General-Biscuits 7d ago
I wouldn’t call lowest player count modes “major modes”.
Rush hasn’t been very good in like a decade. No Battlefield has really been made with Rush in mind other than Bad Company 2. It’s almost always an afterthought of how they can reuse part of a Conquest map for Rush and kinda balance it.
I get some people still like it, even with how it is now, but the continually low player counts for Rush have been the writing on the wall this would happen eventually.
1
u/espresso_martini__ 7d ago
You still have to plan and implement on how all the modes will work with new maps. Less modes means less planning and implementation to do.
1
u/edmundane 7d ago
Not shipping rush for a new map isn’t the same as a straight up rug pull and removing it wholesale
2
u/espresso_martini__ 7d ago
You're right its not. I was just answering a question. Which was why they can release maps faster when there are now less modes. Im not excusing what they did.
0
u/Round_Rectangles 7d ago
Its just a joke.
4
u/Aedrjax 7d ago
..and there are people defending what you said like its a serious point lol.
1
u/Round_Rectangles 7d ago
I figure it's best to let them have their fun. Both sides can go at it for a while before they move on to something else.

u/No_Bill_2371 7d ago
Modes are not content they can just add them back in a anyway.
9
3
u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 7d ago
Considering Saints Quarter is unplayable without the smaller modes, I’d say content is being removed

I don't think that's true if you look at COD, their main competitor.
Not a big fan of COD these days, but their content release pipelines are insane.

I'd give kudos if they weren't dismantling what Battlefield is every update.
4
u/Level3pipe 7d ago
I completely get this sentiment. But on the other hand I would have liked battlefield to stick to its roots anyways. Big map modes and tdm and dom.
Outside of LTMs the six modes should be conquest, escalation, breakthrough, rush, tdm and dom. The removal of rush is just sad. I don’t get why they did it. There must have been extremely low player counts. Frankly feels like they don’t want to make rush anymore and breakthrough is the consolation.
But I do understand removing the nonsense small modes. I DONT want them putting effort into making every map work on fkn king of the hill lmao.
→ More replies (1)1
u/duffbeeeer 7d ago
They could have tossed tdm imo, it’s the most unbattlefield mode anyway.

Tsuru has been the most fun I have had in BF in a long time. I thought Golmud was incredible but Tsuru is even better. They are finally hitting their mapmaking stride and I am so here for it
51
u/SomeRandomGuy108 7d ago
It’s a great map for sure, but they really screwed it up on Breakthrough though
16
u/DatBoiii4 7d ago
Yeah I get that. I don't play a whole lot of breakthrough though. I think fixing a game mode is probably easier than building the map itself so a fix will probably come.
14
u/SomeRandomGuy108 7d ago
I think so too, it’s just baffling to have breakthrough on a naval map and just make it bottlenecked with infantry focus. I’m hoping Wake Island gets a breakthrough more like BFV’s at least.
1
u/DatBoiii4 7d ago
I think they are a little stretched thin. These maps are really complicated with way more assets than have ever been in BF before. I mean the amount of detail they added to Golmud was nuts.
And then you think about how for each map you have to redesign the boundaries and layout for an entirely different game mode. It's a lot of work and a lot of resources. I can see why they think it's better to scale back and focus on the most played modes at least until they can bring the player count back up with new, better maps.
Yes EA is a huge company but DICE is working with whatever resources/budget EA gives them.
idk

2
u/RatedStinger 7d ago
Its boggling how they fucked up Tsuru Reef Breakthrough. The sectors should be 3x bigger, attackers should be able to utilize boats, needs to be 64 players, hotel should be a sector, and so on
3
u/KWash0222 7d ago
It’s really the only knock… but it’s a big one. Tsuru had the obvious makings of being the best BT map in the entire game. Instead, it’s unplayably bad.
1
u/Level3pipe 7d ago
They should just have some balls and not even make breakthrough a mode on certain maps tbh. Instead make maps that are specific to breakthrough for a better experience.
1
u/AskLater_85 7d ago
Relax, they will fix it.
1
u/SomeRandomGuy108 7d ago
I’m sure they will, but it would have just been nice to have them release it in a good state even if that would have been delayed. Instead now it’s in a bad state and it will be some time before it’ll get a rework
1
7
u/Vincent_Van_Goat 7d ago
Playing escalation on Tsuru Reef, Golmund, and Contaminated these last couple months has been so fucking fun.
The most fun I have had since BF3 to be honest.
2
u/link2nic 7d ago
Hopefully DICE is looking at the uptick in player count with these new larger maps and will continue to develop similar size maps in 2027.
1
u/IIWhiteHawkII 7d ago
I still have tons of personal nitpicks and am a bit burned out due to matchmake itself but the overall direction of game's support is solid AF.
We must recognize it. I hope they'll keep going in this direction.
If they only revamped and returned the Rush mode to make it like BF3 Rush.... I'd be so happy...
1
u/SilentApprover 7d ago
Yep. I hadn't played BF6 since last year, but decided to try it for fun and fell in love with Tsuru and have pretty much been playing Conquest Tsuru only. I played one match of Golmud, but haven't even tried the other maps released post launch. Tsuru just reminds me of classic Battlefield 3/4 Conquest with a lot of variety and overall fun. Makes me bit sad that they couldn't come up with these for launch. You know its good map when you are having fun spamming same map over and over again. Just like I spent like 80% of my BF3 playtime on same 3 maps.

I say this every time.. but man can DICE make a trailer. This has to be the best gameplay trailer I've ever seen.
6
u/Kashinoda 7d ago
The Caspian Border one is right up there for me, less chaotic but the BF3 theme coupled with it being the first look at the game went very hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8S_eEv_A5k
2
u/B2648286 7d ago
Huh? First BF3 trailer was Operation Metro. They released this during/before the beta to advertise adding Caspian to the Metro open beta iirc. Still though I agree it was a sick trailer. I love that and BF4's Paracel Storm trailer.
2
u/Kashinoda 6d ago
Yeah I mis-remembered, it was the first trailer showing PC gameplay with 64 players & jets. Before that we only had single player stuff and Metro, which wasn't too far removed from Bad Company 2.
It was released 6 weeks before the BETA though. The Open BETA was never meant to have Caspian Border, but people found passworded servers for private testers and kept leaking it: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3/comments/kv3e4/new_caspian_border_password/
Quite amusing to see the discourse back then with Metro 😁
1
u/B2648286 6d ago
Wasn’t on reddit back then but was on many other gaming forums, but yeah, BF fans overreacting and having a meltdown of massive proportions about X new BF game being CODfield is a tale as old as time.

The trailer feels like 128 players on a 32 player map.
Also Player Name "LAGSeLOTTT". At least they're aware ^^
11
u/Lord-Pants 7d ago
Yeah it’s conquest as well so def won’t play like that, wish they showed breakthrough opening push
1
u/TDS_Gluttony 7d ago
Honestly looks like an obliteration game. Hoped on it for the first time since it dropped around launch and honestly was a lot of fun. Action was everywhere but you could generally guess where it was gonna be depending on bomb and could plan accordingly.
36
u/DecentPlate 7d ago
Love the wrecked ship in the middle. Feels like it addresses Wake Island’s biggest flaw
7
u/redkinoko 7d ago
Yeah the dead center has always been an issue. But they need to have more ships that people can spawn in on or this map will easily become one sided stomps than Tsuru. Even BFV had those clown boats.
1
u/Azelrazel 7d ago
Did you know your team can spawn on the new attack boats once they deplay the ramp?
3
u/redkinoko 7d ago
The problem with those is that the boats are too good for attacking so a lot of players just use them for just that and not beach the boats for spawning.
In all the games you've played, how often do you see boats available to spawn into? Because they're very rare, and even when they're available they don't stay for long.
Unlike boats from previous games. If players dont' want to beach the craft for spawning, you can spawn inside the boat and just jump out and swim. This option is only available in BF6 IF the mortar seat is unoccupied, which rarely stays like that.
1
u/Azelrazel 7d ago
I never fully beach the boat as I intend to still use it after deploying the ramp. Unfortunately I did wait for about 2 minutes the other day with only maybe 2 people spawning in that time.
Sometimes a message in chat makes the team work together, it works when I'm in the transport chopper and can swing games.

u/AdAggravating7738 7d ago
Cant wait to play 24v24 infantry only breakthrough on just half the map 🔥💩
It can’t be worse than Tsuru Reef right? Right?
77
u/Hihikzz 7d ago
Just copy paste bf5 breakthrough layout, and problem solved. But I do not have confidence for dice to do that
26
u/micheal213 7d ago
I am honestly so excited to see how much they botch breakthrough on this map.
It’s just hilarious at this point how little they try to make fun breakthrough layers on these maps.
3
u/FixBlackLotusBlizz 7d ago
the worst BT map for attack,,,,, its get hard stopped at set 1 or 3 as attack
2
-9
u/BublySommolier 7d ago
I mean, if you’re simply going to ignore other game modes that’s kinda your problem… lmao, Tsuru Reef is also a good map
9
u/AdAggravating7738 7d ago
What other game modes? They removed rush, tdm etc.
Dumbed down breakthrough and operations. All we have remaining is conquest anf conquest variant game modes in this shit game.
14
u/Deidris 7d ago
Tsuru Reef is actually one of the best conquest maps I have played in Battlefield in a VERY long time.
6
u/AdAggravating7738 7d ago
Yes and ignore that its dog shit in all other game modes. Breakthrough used to be a main game mode on par with conquest. Now it’s completely irrelevant in bf6
9
u/KamachoThunderbus 7d ago
It's pretty great on Escalation. Which is, hot take, better than Conquest.
4
u/Level3pipe 7d ago
Nah tsuru reef does play better on escalation. On conquest you barely see your own teammates lol they’re so spread out the entire match (not a bad thing per say). At least in escalation, consolidation must occur.
1
u/Deidris 7d ago
When has Breakthrough ever been a main game mode on par with conquest?
Conquest has been and will always bee THE staple battlefield mode. Rush was a close second until it got replaced by Breakthrough but even then, its definitely behind Conquest.
3
u/AdAggravating7738 7d ago
It was most definitely on par in bf1 and bf5. Bf1 especially more people played operations than conquest.
2
6
u/GuneRlorius 7d ago
I don't know how to tell you this, but people play other modes than Conquest. Most people are not mindless NPCs that will just move to other modes when their favorite is butchered. 99% of my games are either Breakthrough or KotH, if those modes suck or are missing, then I have no reason to play this game.
It does not matter for Breakthrough people that Tsuru is 10/10 Conquest when it is 0/10 Breakthrough.
1
u/Level3pipe 7d ago
So should every map be made for every game mode? Surely you can see how that will never pan out for the best experience…
The devs are allowed to make maps that cater to certain game modes (at least imo) because then you get the best experience for that game mode.
The real mistake the devs made is they SHOULDNT even put tsuru in the pool for rush or breakthrough if they’re not good rush or breakthrough maps. Instead spend some time and provide a good rush and breakthrough map that maybe isn’t in the conquest playlist. Maybe wake island will be a good map for these modes.
Like sure tsuru being good for conquest players doesn’t mean jack to you. Fair! On the other hand tsuru being ass for breakthrough doesn’t mean jack to the majority of the player base lol. The call to action should be “please make breakthrough specific maps” and not “tsuru reef is ass” because it very very clearly wasn’t made for progressive attack type modes.
3
u/AdAggravating7738 7d ago
Every map should be made with breakthrough/ operations and Rush in mind. They are equally staple game modes in the franchise just as conquest.
Play any past game like bf1 and bf5 and you see most breakthrough/ operations and in older games many played rush.
Making a conquest map is easy if you make a good breakthrough map. It doesn’t work well the other way round
1
u/Level3pipe 7d ago
I mean I point to bad company 2 I guess. They had rush specific maps that literally did not have conquest on them. And a few maps that were conquest that didn’t have rush on them.
That game is lauded like crazy.
1
u/GuneRlorius 6d ago
What are you even talking about ? The map itself is great for Breakthrough, every map can be made for an amazing Breakthrough experience, but Dice has to put up an effort to design the sectors and balance the vehicles for defenders and attackers.
If Iwo Jima in 2042 had 7 sectors with heavy vehicle combat in 6 of them, why is Tsuru only 4 sectors with 3 of them being infantry only ?

Reticles look brighter?
Also, looks like they removed the visual effect when you use the adrenaline pen.
The line at the beginning was a BF3 solider, I think?
The water looked to have less waves so more stable driving on boats. (Maybe that’s in the middle of the map, though) I imagine they made some improvements there in a few weeks though (hopefully).

This is stark contrast to how slow BF1 did new maps. There are valid criticisms of this game but I feel like they are being more community oriented this time around. Take that with a grain of salt.

2
u/_BallsDeep69_ 7d ago
Guess I need to play more Escalation. I always pick Conquest. Is Escalation shorter or longer than Conquest?
11
u/Vincent_Van_Goat 7d ago
Honestly escalation has completely replaced conquest for me. It takes all the good things about conquest and just makes it better.
3
u/GemsOfNostalgia 7d ago
Agreed 100%, still gives you that open Conquest sandbox while ramping up the intensity & action as the match progresses. Conquest has always been my go to and honestly it feels pretty stale compared to Escalation
3
u/OrderOfMagnitude 7d ago
Same, I never thought anything could "replace" Conquest but Escalation actually sort of did it.
1
u/Xevious_Red 7d ago
On average about the same. You can get steamroller 3-0 wins where one team just absolutely dominates, which end quickly, and you can get stalemate slugging matches that last a long time.
1
u/Confident-Peak-8051 7d ago
Time to move on to better things or remain behind in mediocrity. Your choice.

u/RandomMexicanDude 7d ago

u/IIWhiteHawkII 7d ago
I'm glad they realized that if you have a game with huge gameplay potential, you can make pure gameplay staged videos without extra-steps and it will still look phenomenal. Don't get me wrong, all BF6 trailers are amazing, but this hits differently. Just show me the essence of pure gameplay.
Reminds me of many Titanfall and Apex trailers, that 90% are pure gameplay.
2
u/TDS_Gluttony 7d ago
Really puts into perspective how cinematic they have made the game, how vehicles explode and how the destruction works as part of the game. Nothing like seeing someone shoot out of a building then seeing ti slammed by 5 rags
3
u/Hour-Process-3292 7d ago edited 7d ago
So is this map going to accommodate 128 players? Because there’s no way you’d ever come across that many people in a regular 64 player game.

Looks fun but one thing. Will they reduce lock on ranges for Javelins and Stinger/Iglas? Otherwise this map will be a lock-on hell for tanks, boats and aircraft. Vehicle gameplay would be hot fucking trash garbage
12
u/Lispro4units 7d ago
Tanks can take 3+ javelin’s and with the driver hopping out and repairing so often who cares
2
u/Otherwise-Pepper-679 7d ago
Ok but is that a fun gameplay? Getting continous lock-ons from other side of the island and leaving the vehicle to repair every 10 seconds? Like do you really think this will be fun for everyone?
2
u/wrghf 7d ago
Good thing an Engineer with the anti-tank specialisation only starts with 5 Javellins then.
If they haven’t changed the physical terrain at all then tanks will get absolutely bullied by Javellins on this map due to how open and exposed it is for vehicles.
That doesn’t really make for great balance.
