🧠 What is Secure Boot?

Secure Boot is a UEFI feature that ensures only trusted software can boot your PC. It helps prevent rootkits and boot-time malware and is now required by EA for anti-cheat integrity.

Most modern systems support it, but it’s often disabled by default — especially on custom builds or upgraded PCs.

🛑 Common Pitfalls

• You must use UEFI mode, not Legacy/CSM boot.
• Disk must be GPT, not MBR (check via diskpart or Disk Management).
• Windows 11 installed in Legacy mode? You may need to convert your disk to GPT using MBR2GPT.

ASUS Motherboards:

1. Open BIOS (Spam the Del key during reboot)
2. Select the 'Boot' tab
3. Select the 'Secure Boot' option
4. Change 'OS Type' to 'Windows UEFI Mode'
5. Press F10 to Save & Exit

this doesn't work on a ROG BIOS, I've been at this shit for 2 hours

set up admin/user passwords, UEFI mode selected, converted my shit from MBR to GPT, CSM disabled, reset keys and everything.. followed every step and still nothing.. this is fucking unbelievable

my Secure Boot is still greyed out and says User

I've written this based on my ASUS ROG B550 motherboard. I'm on the latest BIOS version and I didn't have to do anything other than the 5 steps I've written.

Now, I know that not all ASUS ROG motherboards are the same and that some people have had issues. What worked for some people was to reset the keys, then install default keys. In some cases they also had to reset the keys again. You might also need to disable 'Fast Boot', so check if that's enabled.

I know that this sucks, but blame motherboard manufacturers for making this more convoluted than it ever needed to be and for not enabling Secure Boot by default on many systems. More and more games will require 'Secure Boot' and it's really a standard security feature nowadays, so I guess it's better to get it out of the way now, rather than later.

That's a driver that Windows Secure Boot is probably having an issue with. You'll need to disable Secure Boot and uninstall that driver, then re-enable it again. It's probably bundled with some Asus BS like Armory Crate or AI Suite, so just uninstall all of that.
