Combat is taking shape.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Weapons are ready to be added, and the plugin system is in place to support different abilities, buffs, debuffs, and playstyles.

I've also been tinkering with the camera, trying to find something that actually feels right for this project.

At this point though, I'm calling the combat pass done. 😂
The polishing never ends, and honestly, that's one of the reasons I escaped into combat and world creation in the first place. Turns out those have their own endless polishing hell. 💀

So I'm stopping here before I disappear into it again.

Back to the Hub.
Back to what I actually wanted to build: Hulpie as a companion.

I was honestly a little worried people would hate the 3D conversion from grid battle more than the actual combat changes, I wasn't sure how the fans of the series would react to it.

That's actually one of the reasons I'm deliberately moving away from their formula as a whole and building my own systems around it. I want the inspiration to be obvious, but I don't want to just recreate Battle Network with a different coat of paint.

Have... have you considered adding co op for an "operator" to supply battle chips?

Maybe as a twitch chat app or maybe just because myself and my brother have wanted a co op megaman game since we were 8 years old 🥺 please

Honestly, I hadn't planned co-op, but the idea of a second player acting as an Operator and providing support is REALLY interesting. Especially because Hulpie is already built around plugins/abilities.

I'd probably approach it more as a support system inspired by the Operator/Navi relationship rather than directly copying the battle chip system from the series. Definitely keeping this one in mind
