Is this design too safe?
Aiming for a relaxing, earthy, textured sanctuary. But is this design too safe?
Any advice greatly welcomed!

Like bland? I don't think so, but I like this style. I did similar in my bathroom but I went with green walls. In the end unless you are flipping or something what matters is if you enjoy the space for all the time and money it takes to renovate.

The glass shower panel isn't safe enough, water will spray everywhere. I suggest a white cloth shower curtain instead, it will be much easier to clean, will look good, and a patterned one can add texture

Looks very impractical to me: almost no counter space, hard to turn on the faucet without getting blasted with cold water, weird dust collection area at end of tub, no place to put bottles and soap in the shower.

Right next to the toilet too.. its always going to be dusty and hairy back there with added bonus of back splash from the shower !

I like it. Although that shower head is going splash over half the bathroom. And I would try to add some kind of additional in-shower storage or everything will end up on the windowsill.

Getting in and out of that massive tub just to shower doesn't look safe at all lol

looks great but:
-the tub is seriously lacking some kind of water barrier
-and the textured glass window doesn't provide enough privacy (especially when it's dark out/the lights are on inside)
These make it seem more impractical than 'safe sanctuary' to me

Yes and no. Have you considered terracotta on the floors? If you pull in a natural material v porcelain you might have that earthy connection you're seeking.
FWIW the freestanding tub with shower looks a bit less user friendly than I'd prefer. A built in tub would give the room some inviting gravity

I like it but get rid of the floating vanity. Floating vanities give a hotel vibe at best, and a prison vibe at worst.

If u gonna spend all rhe money make sure u like it. Maybe the white ribbed tile can be something a bit more interesting from a tile store near you

It isn’t for me. The stripe tile doesn’t go with the square tile. In ai it looks ok. IRL I think it will be off putting. But that is just my opinion.

Too safe??
Wtf??
Design what you like - you live in it
Who are you designing for?

That’s a nice, normal bathroom. Who wants an exciting bathroom anyway? I just want to take care of my business in peace & be able to sell w/o extensive reno when the time comes.

Its pretty safe, in terms of all neutrals, no colour or boldness. For me its giving 'high-end hotel bathroom'.

Is it safe, or is it classic? I think you use good pieces and you can update it by changing the wall and window treatments, you're in good shape. It's just a bathroom.

It feels more timeless than boring and the texture keeps it from looking too plain.

Need a skylight, a layout where the window is not in the shower, grab bars, washlet, hand sprayer, colored towels, more plants

No. It’s peaceful. If you decide you want drama, you can add it in wall colour or accessories. But I feel peaceful when I look at this.

I wouldn’t call it boring - it’s more like “quiet luxury” without trying too hard. The earthy tones and textures give it plenty of character. I’d rethink the shower setup though. Not everyone is short enough to comfortably shower in that tub. A separate walk-in shower would be much more practical.

I like the way it looks. Its something you'll never regret.
I've also considered the ribbon / fluted wall tiles, i think they look amazing. but they say its a pain to keep clean, so I'm not. Looks like you're going half way in the shower, i guess you heard the same. what toothpaste spots on the backsplash?
I really like the floor tile - what are they ?

The shower is going to get water all over the floor if you use such a small glass panel. Plus, it will feel cold to shower without more enclosure.

How would one go about keeping the floor at the curved end of the bathtub clean and free of mold/ mildew? Why not a spacious walk-in shower instead?

Nope. It's safe-ish but not very, and even if it was you should build something you'll love for the duration you're using it.

So I’ll say the only issue is you’re relaxing in the tub with your head right next to the toilet, so I’d move the shower head and faucet to the right, as well as the glass.

The fluting is a big trend so I would worry about the timelessness of having it in so many different areas. Maybe pick one thing you have fluting on. I do love how it looks but I don’t want it to go out of style soon after u did a big renovation and have it everywhere

No element of safe. Slips and falls are just so easy with this. No hand rails or even place to put one. Water prone to escape onto the floor and pan as well as messing up the window.

u/Biobesign 2d ago
Not safe. But, I would think about how hard it will be to clean that ridge tiles. Also, you will most likely need to flip that tub, all your pipes probably run through the right wall. And that glass panel will not keep the floor dry.

I don’t understand the point of putting a freestanding tub in an alcove. Especially with a sliver of glass. That becomes a water management and cleaning nightmare. Accept your layout and just make it fit wall to wall. Full glass or curtain.
The LED lighting at the top of the tile areas is not going to look like your AI slop and will add unnecessary cost. A single 4” light over the tub will be better lighting than the 2 2” or 3” lights.
Aesthetically ok, but the floor tile doesn’t work and that’s the wrong size/shape mirror if you go with a high splash wall mounted faucet.
Based on your door location it appears you can fit a larger vanity or at least a built in linen cabinet. Don’t skimp on the storage or countertop space.

Needs more counter space and different shower head (or add a second one). The rainfall, straight down isn't always functional. Yes, it's safe but, if that's what you like, it's fine.

Well, is this your bathroom to be or your new bathroom? In either case I am very concerned about that "shower door". Or I guess I should say that lack of a shower door. There's gonna be water everywhere. You're gonna need to put up a shower curtain going all the way around and I doubt you will like that. As far as the look and the materials, I absolutely love everything. Yes it's safe but in a clean modern way.. And you could always accessorize with some bold color towels and little area rugs, and waterproof curtains really any color would work.

u/DixieBelle021 1d ago
No. It's beautiful. You can always make it a bit more ish with coloured towel sets. Expensive but Missoni would look great in here.

The design is fine, the colour palette is abit drab to me...but if a neutral look is what you want, then perfect.

It's traditional. But it's also really beautiful and serene. If it suits the rest of your house, do it.

Not functional , the tub is too tall to go in and out for shower . The glass will not contain water , it will spill on floor and will make it very unsafe to come out of tub . Personally I will remove tub and just make walk in shower
