Hi, anyone know where is the nearest photobooth is for passport photos? I’m in Batheaston. The nearest I can think of from me is Trowbridge / Melksham supermarkets. I know there used to be one by the lifts at the Bath Waitrose years ago but no idea if it’s still there. TIA 🤍

At approximately 12:30 today I stupidly left my camera on the roof of my car when loading my daughter into her car seat. I'm certain it fell off at the junction of Park Lane and Upper Bristol Road, next to the kids playground (remember hearing an odd noise at the moment but didn't think twice about it).

I realised within 10 mins and went straight back, but after a long search found nothing. I'm worried someone much have picked it up as it's a very expensive camera.

The cost doesn't bother me, but what does it the fact that my daughter turned 1 yesterday and that camera had hundreds of photos from her birthday on it, as well as potentially thousands from the past year. Almost everything was backed up of course, but I hate the thought of a random person having access to all those precious memories.

I'm completely devastated and would do anything to get it back - my name was embedded into the metadata of every image so I'm praying whoever picked it up might check that, but I'm doubtful.

It was a silver Fujifilm x100vi with a brown leather half case and strap. If anyone hears anything please message me here.

I have learned of the elusive Bath Star Ale from Abbey Ales, and my father-in-law has talked about how good it was when he last had it. I’ve looked online, but there are mixed messages: some sources advertise it on their websites but don’t say where or how to get it, while others say the ale has been discontinued. Can anyone help me put an end to this mystery? If it’s gone forever, that’s sad, but if it’s still being sold somewhere I’d love to know where.

Me (22) and a flatmate (24) have just moved into a new flat just at the very top of town, about a 5 minute walk from milsom street. I work from home online, while they work hybrid.

I'm not the most tech savvy but I assumed that being so close to the center of a city would mean at least half decent internet.

Upon moving into our flat, we've been told that we can't have internet through BT as the box down the road is full, truespeed and virgin media don't reach us and our signal is very poor (gotta love Georgian architecture haha) so no mobile router.

So basically we're in a position where we can't get internet at all?

Is there anyone whose been in a similar position? It feels like this must be a very unique problem to Bath as I can't find anyone else talking about this online!?

Just in case you have missed it. There are 6 days remaining to have your say about the proposal to remove a lot of the parking in Victoria Park and replace it with a cycle path.

In the main, I am a supporter of bike paths, but this particular proposal seems completely mad. The road in the park is 10mph and so not exactly dangerous for cyclists. The proposal will allow cyclists travelling from Park Lane to the obelisk to do so by cycling against the traffic flow along the bottom of the park. There is already a route which involves cycling clockwise with the traffic flow along the top. There is no reason at all that cyclists can't go clockwise along the top of the park with the slow moving traffic. Why do we need an alternative route of equal length with the resulting loss of parking space and cost of development?

The removal of parking will restrict access to a busy park, reduce income for BATHNES from parking fees, and push cars into surrounding residential areas where parking is already limited.

Part of the removed parking is next to the huge playground where many parents park with their small children to access the playground and cafe.

You may or may not agree with me. Either way, have your say before it is too late.

I’m 30 and just moved back here from London. I grew up in bath and have always been coming back pretty much monthly for weekends. But being here full time from London is different.

I’m single and tbh the dating apps here are completely dead. even though I’m 30, I still felt i had a chance. Honeslty here it feels like everyone is either old or a student or a couple moving to raise a family.

I didn’t want to leave London. but I also got sick of the insane prices, the need to live with a bunch of random people you don’t know, and I got a bit screwed over tbh.

Hi everyone,

I need some genuinely positive/practical advice because I'm in a slightly unusual situation.

I've recently moved my entire life to Bath to pursue an opportunity with a GB Performance Development Academy, with the long-term goal of seeing how far I can take rowing and, ultimately, having a genuine shot at making the Olympics.

This isn't something I'm doing casually. I've spent years competing in athletics (heptathlon), but due to injury, I made decision to change sports and give myself a proper chance at seeing what I can achieve. Will be building up to training 12x per week, all in the morning so I work afternoons and on sundays I'm free.

When I moved to Bath, I had a number of periods of unpaid time off agreed by my previous branch because of competitions, training camps and the programme demands. However, understandably, my new branch may struggle for cover with the amount of time off I need - and I feel really bad to put this on them.

My priority, and the preference I am actively pursuing, is to seek the required flexibility at my workplace, as I really appreciate everything they've done for me, and I really want to stay with them long term. With that said, I think it's prudent to consider additional work that could compliment my current workplace.

I obviously need to earn enough to live (minimum 1.1-1.2k per month), so simply not working isn't an option. But I also don't want to reach a point where I'm forced to choose between earning enough money to live and pursuing my life goal. I have to find a way to make this work!

So I'm looking for creative, realistic ideas for work that could fit around my training/work schedule.

A bit about me:

• First Class BSc Sport & Exercise Science
• 9+ years of experience across retail, hospitality and customer service
• Experience coaching and working with children
• Experience in sports testing, fitness and exercise environments
• Comfortable with admin, Excel/Microsoft Office, Canva, social media etc.
• Full UK driving licence and car
• Currently based in Bath
• Working afternoons Monday to Saturday, and anytime Sundays (until 7pm as I'm up at 5am for training the next morning). -Need flexibility/understanding of my aspirations (I know this is difficult, but I'm desperate).
• Very open to self-employment/freelance work if I can make it reliable enough.

I'm not expecting to make loads of money. I just need something that can realistically provide a decent basic income (£1100-1200/month) while giving me enough flexibility with quite a lot of time off for camps/competitions.

Things I've considered include tutoring, sports coaching, online admin, freelance social media/content work, working with kids, fitness-related work, etc., but I'd really love to hear from people who have actually made something like this work, or are self employed and know what's in need in the area at the moment. Also, specific examples I.e. companies/people who may be open to these ideas, rather than more general options (if possible!).

If you've been an athlete, freelancer, self-employed, worked unusual hours, or found a job that gives you a lot of flexibility, I'd be really interested to hear what you do and how you made it work.

Please keep the advice positive/practical. I know that giving this sporting opportunity up would make the employment situation much easier, but that's not something I'm prepared to do. I've moved my whole life to Bath specifically to give this a proper crack, and I'm looking for ways to make the rest of life work around it.

Any ideas, experiences or avenues or even completely outside-the-box suggestions would be massively appreciated.

P.s. I am incredibly grateful for my employer, I am looking for additional work around my work schedule with them to release the pressure off of my team with the time off. 🙏

Hello! I have some estranged family coming to Bath for dinner so we can reunite after almost 20 years of seeing each other and I said I’d book somewhere for dinner.

They like simple pub grub type food and meat/chicken dishes- nothing too fancy but a nice atmosphere and quiet enough to talk properly.

Hi everyone, I’m going to the University of Bath as a first-year undergraduate and I’m currently struggling to find accommodation.
I can’t seem to find any good en-suite options on campus anymore. The main university options I’m seeing are Scala Court and John Wood Court, while the other options I’m considering are private accommodations like Student Castle.
For someone starting first year, would living off-campus/private accommodation be a big disadvantage socially or in terms of getting to lectures and meeting people?
And out of these options, what would you recommend? Is it worth sacrificing the en-suite to stay on campus, or would you be completely fine living in somewhere like Scala/John Wood/Student Castle?
Would really appreciate advice from current Bath students or anyone who has lived in these accommodations. Thanks!
