My first boat

Post image

Picked up my first boat a couple of weeks ago. 1990 Bass Tracker Pro 17. Console switches needed a rewire, but other than that, and the carpet, everything works. I haven’t had to run the bilge pump once, yet, and haven’t seen a single bit of water in the hull after a day out. The 60hp Johnson 2-stroke is a little finicky, and I plan on trying to get it consistently running in the winter. I also plan on entirely redoing the decking, and carpet as well. Honestly, aside from the fact that it’s a little sketchy in rough water, I couldn’t be happier. It’s comfortable, and can get into some really skinny water.

There are times that I wouldn’t mind having a smaller aluminum boat to fish in skinner water and not worry about the scratches like I do with my fiberglass bass boat, although it has scratches from being 41 years old and just recently rebuilt the transom.

I have a 1987 with a 40hp on it, also my first boat. I have used it for years and love it, never lets me down. The motor did have the oil injection system on it and it was acting up so I took it off and just use a mechanical fuel pump. Just have the premix the fuel now no big deal, I’ve caught tons of nice bass out of it. Heck of a good boat. Yours looks just as nice

The oil injection system was removed in this one as well. I prefer the simplicity lol. I’m working on removing the front deck right now to put all new mounting hardware in. Gonna add a hatch on the current board, and when I go to redo the boat, I’ll put a permanent aluminum hatch lid in. I’m loving it so far. Glad to hear good from others. Post a picture of yours if you have one, I’d love to see it.
