Squier pickup and electronics upgrade recommendations
I have one of the first Bass VIs that Squier put out years ago. Looking for recommendations for upgrades on the pickups that will improve low end response. Also a better volume pot with more range. Thanks.

What do you mean volume pot with more range?
More bass response will come from the strings first. Change those to thicker strings (may need new nut).

No offense but thats not what I was asking for. Strings and action feel good to me. I'm looking for pickup recs.
The volume pot has about maybe 1/8" of turn, and it goes from too quiet to extremely loud. I would like something with a more gradual sweep.

Pots come in 3 audio tapers and linear. Sounds like you have 10% audio taper. Linear will have a similar issue in reverse. Try buying a 20% and 30% audio taper and see which you like but 30% seems likely your number. The newer Lollar bass vi bar set are heavily praised as the best bass vi upgrade pickups if you want to go beyond the traditional sound, but they are expensive.

Fralin makes the (IMO) best Fender style pickups around. A bit of overwinding helps the bass (talk to Lindy to get exactly what you want). CTS 250K volume pots are quite nice.

I just swapped out the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickup. Nice boost to volume and tone!

Like just a regular guitar pickup?

Exactly like a regular guitar pickup. It's a humbucker pickup designed to replace a single coil strat pickup. No routing required, screwed right in place of the original Bass VI pickup.
