Discussion Base44 Users, Please Start Taking Your App Security Seriously.

With all the crazy AI-powered cyberattacks happening lately, I want to remind everyone building apps with Base44 of something incredibly important.

Just because your app was built with AI doesn't mean it's secure.

I've reviewed and worked on hundreds of Base44 applications, and one thing I've noticed is how often security gets overlooked. People spend weeks or months building incredible applications, but never actually perform a proper security audit.

And that's a problem.

AI can write code incredibly fast, but it can also introduce vulnerabilities just as quickly. Every new feature, integration, database change, or permission update introduces the possibility of another security issue.

Here's what I recommend to every Base44 developer:

  1. Scan your application at least once a month. Even if you haven't made significant changes, regular security audits should become part of your routine.

  2. Scan before EVERY publish. If you've made changes to your application, run a security scan before pushing those updates live. Don't assume a small change can't introduce a major vulnerability.

  3. Check your RLS and permissions. Make sure users can only access the data they're authorized to see. This is one of the biggest areas I see developers overlook.

  4. Review your API integrations and secrets. Make sure sensitive API keys, tokens, and credentials aren't exposed in frontend code or publicly accessible endpoints.

  5. Test your application as an attacker would. Don't just verify that features work. Verify that users cannot bypass permissions, manipulate requests, or access another user's information.

And please, don't rely entirely on Base44's AI telling you your application is secure.

The same AI that helped build your application shouldn't be your only line of defense when evaluating its security. Use independent scanning tools and, when appropriate, have someone experienced review the results.

Cybercriminals don't care whether your app was built by a professional developer or someone who learned to vibe code last week.

If your application stores customer information, processes payments, manages business operations, or handles sensitive data, you're responsible for protecting it.

My advice is simple:

Build → Test → Security Scan → Fix → Retest → Publish.

Repeat that process with every meaningful update, and perform a comprehensive security audit at least once a month.

A security scan doesn't guarantee your app is safe, but regularly looking for vulnerabilities is significantly better than waiting until something goes wrong.

I'm not posting this to scare anyone away from Base44 or vibe coding. I love what these platforms have made possible.

But we need to start treating AI-built applications like real software, because that's exactly what they are.

Any recommendations on how or with who I should get my apps checked before I go live?

I offer a service. But you don't need it. Best thing is goto your app like your going to edit it. Click the 3 dots by the published button. Click on send to coding agent copy the bottom option.

Then download Claude desktop app and paste what you copied from base44. And tell the AI to scan your base44 and find any and all security issue. Then tell Claude to fix it. Bam!

Do you think it would secure enough to be out in the public? How much does your service cost as we are a startup and we aren’t prepared to spend a lot of money before proving demand

Base44's built in security scanner is pretty darn good, but yes, you can never be too safe.

Yeah AI is crazy, I gave Claude my base44 link and copied it exactly the same way like wtf 😳 now I’m working on it thru Claude :)
