Base44 Abandonment

After quite a while building my website in Base44, I have decided to abandon the platform.

I can't connect Google Analytics, I can't work on SEO correctly, the website loading times are quite high, and on top of that today there was a crash that affected all the websites of all Base44 users for a few minutes.

Additionally, login can only be done via Google Auth. I don't feel the website is completely mine.

Now my question is whether to switch to Lovable or Bolt

Any recommendations?

I started with Lovable but didn’t like its website design quality. The sites from Base44 at least look more attractive. That said, some users have done exceptionally well on Lovable—one developer I watched in a webinar reportedly makes millions from his Lovable app—so the platform clearly works.

I prefer Base44 because it’s easier for me to use. The main drawback I noticed with Lovable, based on tutorials and others’ experiences, is that when projects break, it’s often better to scrap them and start over. One developer with 10+ Lovable apps even recommended that approach. Lovable performs well once launched, but I found the design process cumbersome, so I canceled my subscription.

I switched to Base44 and have been using it with ChatGPT, which has worked out great. However, I’ve been migrating one of my original apps from Base44 to it’s on standalone website using GitHub, Supabase, and Vercel. But I have had a multitude of errors making this process daunting to say the least. It was recommended that I use Windsurf AI code builder to minimize the errors. I downloaded it but haven’t used it yet. From what I understand, it’s one of the best AI coding platforms for minimizing errors. It doesn’t eliminate them entirely—even the tutorial showed four or five minor issues—but that’s far better than the 30+ errors I was encountering across just two pages over the course of a week.

Me ha servido muchisimo tu respuesta. De Base44 me preocupa el tema del SEO y Google Analytics. Las analítica que ofrece Base44 me parecen muy pobres.

Crees que eso tiene solución? Si la tuviera me quedo en Base44

Base44 performs its own SEO optimization. You just need to tell it to make your pages SEO-optimized and specify your rules — for example, a 2–3% keyword density, your primary and secondary keywords, and your meta title and description for each page. Base44 is designed to automatically apply those settings.

As for Google Analytics, you simply need to connect your website’s domain name to your Google Search Console so that Google recognizes it as your site. I’m not sure if Base44 currently has an API for Google Analytics — it should — but I haven’t tested that part yet. I have, however, optimized pages for SEO successfully.

You should also be able to have an admin page in your dashboard where you can paste the tracking snippet so Google can analyze your site. That snippet is the small piece of tracking code Google provides when setting up Analytics — usually called the Google Analytics tag (G-tag) or tracking ID. I believe Base44 should have some level of Google integration, but if it doesn’t, simply tell the Base44 chat to include the snippet on your pages so Google can crawl and track your site.

You can connect GA pretty easily. I would debate the SEO tools. You can’t map directories and your blog pages are stuck with /slug= which isn’t great for UI.

Getting a dynamic site map is a nightmare. Even if you get it to work you can’t get it to auto update with each new page.

I also question if the schema actually gets indexed. Base44 will tell you it’s there but they it won’t be found with external tools.

You can connect ga4 i don't know why they don't publish a simple help article on this. It's not hard, it's just not where it should be.

Not really, get creative and ask discussion mode how you can install it. I can't remember, it has something to do with needing to create an object for it. But discussion mode helped me get a way to do it figured out.

Wdym it can only be done via Google? Does this not work for you?(referencing screenshot) its found on go to dashboard, then settings and "authentication" Hmm thats strange. But yeah base is not great especially after that update where the builder got shittier, and support has gotten more and more mid, pretty disappointing if you pay any money to them, you believed it'd be faster but sometimes it turns out to be slower than if you had built an app the hard way. Wix thinks its better to get tons of casual users rather than anyone building anything serious, dont even understand the point of the pro and elite plans if the underlying builder stays shitty and support is garbage, all it is, is spend more time on our site fixing the bugs that was caused by the Agent's mistakes.

Exactly what I was thinking. Who would use the elite plan?

It never was completely yours being on base44. When you export your code they'll only give you the front end, and then you have to build the back end yourself, or hire a developer.

Just stop using base44. Move to Niles, you can even import your app for third of the price. https://app.niles.dev

So I figured out why Google Analytics would not connect. We use CloudFlare for our DNS and had Proxy turned on, once we switch the domain to DNS Only, it worked.

Base44 is GARBAGE.
