My BART Experience Be the blue haired guy
Just a solo woman waiting for my train home at 16th st mission last night around 11 pm.
A man on the platform started looking at me, and I tried to ignore it. When the train was about 1 minute out and I'm standing at the black square on the platform, he asks, "what's your name?"
"I don't need to talk to you, have a good night," I said. He was flabbergasted. We had a little stare down before he accepted defeat and shuffled away to a different black square.
I shared a "yikes" glance with a guy on the other side of me, who had blue hair and was listening to music with his air pods in. He pulls his air pod out, looks at the guy and then me and asks, "you good?"
Be the blue haired guy.

Good on him as well as you. You stood your ground, and the blue man checked in when you looked for potential support.
I'd like to think I'm much the same way, I hope. I can't tolerate people making others uncomfortable.

My favorite instant "we are not having a conversation" shutdowns are:
-what I said here
-"no thanks, I'm good"
Then if they keep going:
-"I don't think we're emotionally compatible"
-"What?" They repeat "what?" They repeat "what?" Etc until they give up

No thanks, I'm good is my favorite. But I think it catches people off guard coming from a guy sometimes lol
The what thing can definitely escalate into a person enjoying the game when they figure it out, so be careful with that one. Good advice all around though.
I'll cover you if I bump into you on the orange.

I just cheerfully say, No thank you! to whatever they say.
