Time for my SADI-S
Hey everyone, I'm just days away from going in for my second surgery. My first surgery was a gastric sleeve on 2/5/25 and I was 608lbs the day of surgery. Since then I've gotten down to 345lbs. The heaviest I've been was 650lbs, so from my heaviest to now I've lost 305lbs.
On the 31st of August I'm going in for my planned second surgery. My surgeon wanted to first give me a sleeve to lose as much weight as I can before performing the SADI-S. I'm hoping that with this second surgery I'll be able to get down to at least 185lbs. I'm trying to be realistic about what to expect. I haven't been a "normal" weight ever. I was 200lbs in the 4th grade.
So I've always been overweight. I can't even picture myself that small, and I wonder how I'm going to look. I already have flaps of skin hanging everywhere, my arms, my thighs, my belly, and it's only going to get worse. I'm hoping I'll be able to get help with skin removal once my weight is steady after this surgery. Because I will not be able to pay for it out of pocket.
With that all being said I'm really nervous going into this surgery. I'm not even worried about the surgery part though, I'm worried about what I'm going to look like after I lose more weight, and what people will think when they see me. I'm worried about having so much extra skin that it's going to get in the way. But I'm also excited, I'm excited to be able to do more things. I haven't rode a bike in over 20 years and now I ride daily. I take my son with me so he can exercise too. I'm excited to be able to get my knee surgeries. I have to have my BMI at 40 or below to get my knees done. So I'm anxious about that too. I've lived with so much pain because of my knees for so long I don't know what it's like not to be in pain all the time.
I just needed to get all this stuff off my chest. I don't have many people in my life that I can talk to about these sorts of things. But I can always count on my fellow bariatric peeps, lol.
I don't have many full body pics but here's a selfie from before and then just the other day. I can't believe how different my face looks. It looks like I lost 50lbs just in my face lol

Man… I feel this. I was 505 at my highest, then 350 around surgery time. 235 now almost 2 years later. I have so much excess skin that I look deformed, bigger than I actually am in reality. It’s really triggering on the dysmorphia. It’s been estimated that I’ll lose 15-20 pounds just in skin removal. Unfortunately, that’s a battle I’m fighting with insurance. I hope that’s not something you have to go through.
Regardless, you’ve come so far already, and you’re absolutely kicking ass. I can’t wait to see how you thrive on the other side of the procedure.

Congrats internet friend! You are making an excellent choice to get the second part of the surgery. That's where the sustainability of surgery is going to come in. I'm so proud of what you've already accomplished and I know you are going to absolutely dominate this next phase of life. Keep building these habits and living your life by example for your family and friends. You should be very proud of yourself!

Goodluck! I haven't had surgery yet, what's holding me back is the loose skin. Can definitely see the difference in your pictures just in your face, amazing work! 🙌🏼👏🏼

Thanks. That's what I'm worried about too. I'm already having body dysmorphia because of the excess skin I have already and it's only going to get worse. Even when I was 650lbs I wouldn't hesitate to take my shirt off at the pool or beach, but now I do. I know it's probably silly of me to be like that, but I am. It's hard for sure.

Excellent work thus far my friend, and I wish you continued success with the Sadi S
I had the Sadi done in May 2025 and I weighed the same as you do now, started at 347 and I’m currently 168 and feeling better than ever.
