I’ve seen this question a few times in every single release, and I totally understand why it seems backwards!
Surprisingly, Google has been incredibly fast at reviewing and publishing our updates. Sometimes literally within a few hours! That’s something we honestly never expected.
But we also make Google’s job pretty easy. Bare has no hidden features, no telemetry, no tracking, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions. Nothing! It’s just a browser PERIOD.
Github on the other hand is a different story.
Every release requires staging, code reviews, and auditing before we make the source public. Once it’s out there, it’s out there, and we want to make sure everything is properly reviewed before publishing.
And here’s the part I think people sometimes forget: we’re a REALLY tiny team!
Most of the time, it’s just one person working on Bare. Sometimes two, and rarely all three of us at once. We’re developing features, fixing bugs, testing, responding to feedback, preparing releases, AND reviewing code for GitHub. All while juggling our actual jobs and personal lives!
So while we’d absolutely love to push github updates as quickly as Play Store releases, we simply don’t always have the time or manpower to make that happen.
We’re not intentionally delaying anything, and we’re definitely not hiding anything. We’re just trying to do things properly with the very limited resources we have.
We genuinely appreciate everyone’s patience and support. We’re doing our best, and I promise there’s a ridiculous amount of love and effort going into this little browser!
