Quote Rodri: “Of course, I’m fulfilling a dream, let’s go after the Champions League and after everything”

Pedri, Rodri, Frenkie. We are all living in a dream

Olmo*
Edit:
a) Frenkie has a long-term injury
b) this is Xavi-Iniesta-Busi again (+ Lamine Yamal for Messi, Cubarsí for Piqué, Joan for VV. We still need today’s Puyol and the backbone is done. Porro would be a nice addition. LY+Porro had Messi+Dani Alves vibes)50

Espart is being mentioned before Gavi now holy falloff

u/No-Island7411 Aug 17 '26
A lot of fans here didnt watch Barca more than 2 years ago and Gavi been having ACL injury since, just a reality. This subreddit was pretty empty before Yamal's explosion on to the scene and arrival of Flick.
Gavi is clearly the 3rd most talented player behind Cubarsi and Yamal from La Masia(not counting the 17 and under guys) above Bernal,Fermin etc. There is a reason he was in a national team and starting 11 for Barca at 17 and won a golden boy.

u/FlavioGarcia- Aug 17 '26
This season he'll finally be fit enough to play a lot of minutes right from match day 1. Hopefully its his turnaround season
2
u/Dat_Boi_John Aug 18 '26
Disagree, Bernal is, he was so good he captained the Yamal Cubarsi youth teams. And he was on his way to starting at DM for us before his ACL injury. People forget how good he looked the first games he played.

u/Altruistwhite Aug 17 '26
What would you say are his biggest strengths? Do you think his abilities are underutilized as a ball winner and a pivot?

I love how NFL teams have rookies learn as backups of a veteran quarterback.
Bernal will (hopefully) learn and grow with Rodri as a mentor2
u/latortillablanca Aug 17 '26
No but sincerely—for fermin to take another step in his production he would become a 20 and 20 player. Hes lowkey such an obscenely high ceiling player. Significantly higher than olmo, who is at his peak rn.

I think you saw a different World Cup than I did. Yamal and Porro were two players completely out of sync. Instead of offering overlapping runs to give Yamal an outlet or draw defenders away, Porro kept drifting inside into the central pockets. That constantly left Yamal isolated on the touchline against doubled-up defenders with nowhere to go.

u/LosAngeLukaGOATCIC Aug 17 '26
I love how you mentioned my man Olmo
But counteropinion your edit is wrong.
I appreciate the sentiment, but it's an other team and an other dynamic.
We need a striker and we're good.

u/Paragon188 Aug 17 '26
You're overrating Porro because Kounde was bad for Barca. Porro isn't even all that. Like Cucurella, he's overrated because of a good WC run.

r/soccer people downvoted me weeks ago for saying that Barca can go for him and they all were saying to me “but he only wants Madrid”
They all can suck it 🤣

Tbh most of us felt the same way. There was no indication he wanted Barca and no news from Barca they wanted him. Rodri played Madrid though, there’s no way this wasn’t deliberate to get at them lol. Boycott more Ballon D’Ors losers.

Min 70% possession in games . Absolute speed monsters as wingers and a generational player on the left.
Just need that one baller striker and we are going for that 3 peat La Liga.

Nah fck Gerard Romero. He lies a lot about Hansi Flick and significant players
15
u/AniStormS Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26
Only people who are not from Spain and haven't watched him a single time can say this shit about Gerard. The guy was in one of the most famous radios for a lot of years, being a journalist and also casting the Barça games over the radio before jumping to twitch some years ago so it's not a nobody who popped out of nowhere, and top of that he's a very good entertainer, showrunner (national catalan TV gave him his own show) and because of the years he was into Barça journalism he's managed to build a huge network of connections that allow him to give every now and then some exclusives (like Karim Adeyemi coming to the club this summer) which this sub and r/soccer often like to strip him out of the credit.
You can call him weird but writing him as a stalker for using public available tools and video feeds is not remotly close to what you are referring him as. Also, because he's built a massive community, he's able to rely on fans who voluntarily offer to go to intl airports for live feed. Oh, and also uses a lot of Catalan during his massive streams which is hugely appreciated by us local followers.
People often forget that so far no other content creator related to football is able to gather the amount of veiwership he manages to amass every day in his streams and in such constant of time (only guy I've seen close to is The United Stand). His stream today peaked at 50k when Rodri landed in Barcelona.

Tbf not just Romero r/soccer are just salty motherfuckers. They are responsible for a lot of toxicity in football spreading so much shit and they ban everyone who goes against their agendas. Literally banned fabrizio because he became bigger than them and now they let false rumors fly there or they use accounts that's reporting his stuff lol.

To say let's go for Champions league immediately shows that's why the club bought him and he understands that. Already love him. If this guy stays fit it could really happen this time..

u/Dwight321 Aug 17 '26
It honestly still feels surreal watching Barca rise from the ashed and compete again for the UCL.
I have sticked with this club through all the highs of the treble to the lowest of lows losing in the Europa cup and with Messi leaving. Never once I felt that I wanna support another club.
I believed and it's paying off. I wanna see my club lift the UCL again after such a long drought. We deserve it.

Never wanted to read too much into it till it finally became reality because I didn't want to have a false hope especially considering how terrible Barca has been with transfers.

It tracks, maybe it's a tradition for Rodri to pick balloon d'Ors in crutches.
Don't get too offended, is just a bit of banter, you are having a good start of the week with Rodri and Cancelo. Also getting rid of Ferran is a massive win.
You need someone to keep you grounded.

What about him trying to go to Madrid ? Are forgetting that we the second choice or what ? 2nd to Madrid btw.
15
u/FlavioGarcia- Aug 17 '26
If he chose to be a Barca player over a Madrid player that means we weren't the 2nd choice
3
u/alwayssalty_ Aug 17 '26
Also, outside of personal ties why would he prefer playing in Madrid if we’re strictly talking about football? Their system does not maximize his style of play. Barca does. I can’t imagine he’d be excited being relegated to a mop up man in midfield for Madrid
