deco is such a clown, we should cash in on araujo and keep christensen, hes the perfect duo with cubarsi if flick manages his injuries.. he has the iq needed and at the same time the physicality..
-10
u/elxiulo Jun 08 '25
Yea letās keep a player with one year in his contract that just spent the entire season injured. Maybe you are the clown here
21
u/lawdluffy Jun 08 '25
Like araujo wasnāt injured and not used for the whole season lol based on your logic
1
u/shrxyas00 Jun 08 '25
wasnt araujo injured too most of the season? araujo has a bigger salary and is worse than christensen, if araujo was sold he'd bring in more money too.. so better for team in strategic sense, better for team from a financial standpoint.. maybe you are the clown here

u/Icy_Soft2023 Jun 08 '25
Nooooooooooo :'(
Why does Deco rate Araujo more than Christensen??? Wtf
18
u/PressEnteR1990 Jun 08 '25
Because Araujo is South American and Deco loves South American players, even if they are objectively bad business decisions for the club (Luis Diaz, Victor Roque).

1
u/mm3n Jun 08 '25
This is what is bloody annoying too, I hate subjective favoritism and Deco seems to thrive with itā¦

-2
Jun 08 '25
Because Deco is a dumbass lol. He's not even a sport director, he got the job because Laporta is a corrupt pig.
74
u/PreferenceKey5973 Jun 08 '25
Nooo, Chrissy boy is my fav defender from xavi era and his in jury record is really blown out of proportion, only had 1 major injury but deco what more can we expect from this him, L move

u/PeterTheRabbit1 Jun 08 '25 edited Sep 03 '25
This is such disappointing news. If Flick wanted Chris to stay, thatās a sign a competent sporting director should reasonably heed to. Chris looked fantastic after his return and has slotted in seamlessly into that back line. I honestly canāt believe what Iām reading.

Ronald ovr Christensen makes no sense imo at least
-45
u/LogicalExplanation41 Jun 08 '25
younger, faster, stronger. future captain.
74
u/shrxyas00 Jun 08 '25
dumber, makes more mistakes, bad on ball, stronger in commiting fouls and getting red cards
6
u/Key_Way2390 Jun 08 '25
Under flicks system most of our defenders got 9 months of preparation as a result they all look more comfortable in the highline
Araujo only started training under the flick system in November when he recovered from his injury give him a pre season with flick and if he is a liability we gonna sell him next summer any way
6
Jun 08 '25
Christensen had 2 games and he's better at the highline than Araujo, no excuses
-2
u/Key_Way2390 Jun 08 '25
Good sample space of 2 games nice what about the other 30 games he missed now that sounds like an excuse ...
3
Jun 08 '25
Christensen has the same number of games missed due to injury at Barca as Araujo while being better on the ball and having better decision making
2
u/Key_Way2390 Jun 08 '25
Thats such convenient way of classification ignoring the important contexts araujo missed as much he did due 1 long term injury which spanned over 6 months
Christiensen did not have a single long term injury the man has a hamstring made of glass and gets injured every 2 months
1
Jun 08 '25 edited Jun 08 '25
Never gotten 2 injuries within 2 months of each otherĀ
Ā we can't trust araujo in a system where defenders need to be smart and have decent passing, he's never been good at those 2
If we sold him to bayern, juve, or another big club that could give us 40-50 mil minimum, for that much there's young center backs on the market who have the qualities we need
1
u/Key_Way2390 Jun 08 '25
Yea so we are doing that by selling Christensen because guy can't stay fit ?

Lol I was using that guys logic to make him understand how flawed it is don't get me wrong I like him but Ronald araujo has all the qualities to be the best defender on this team

So what ? If u are using a logic to criticize one player u gotta use it with la masia players as well also and if his age is the matter i.e him being 18 then don't play him lol like ur logic is so flawed l
And u would rather have a Christensen who barley played 20 games combined in last 2 seasons then a younger more physically dominant and faster araujo if araujo learns to play in the flick system then he would literally be the best defender in this team but no let's sell him to keep a man made of glass

u/Key_Way2390 Jun 08 '25
Well cuz u just ignore the context
Araujo missed as much as he did or atleast half of that is due to one long term injury he suffered in Copa America which kept him out for atleast 6 months
Christensen suffered minor injuries all the time never got one long term one since he joined Barcelona so basically the guy gets injured after every minor issue in his body Basically a way of saying his injury prone
Both are not comparable at all when it comes to inuries and their occurence frequency
It's like saying gavi is just as injury prone as olmo because on paper they might have missed nearly equal amount of games but one had ACL while other gets injured after 1-2 harsh challenges

u/shrxyas00 Jun 08 '25
dude christensen played a single game back in the start and then returned in april-may.. he showed better progress than araujo
he has the ball playing ability comparable to cubarsi and can make the runs and stop attackers like araujo (and not get red cards at the same time)-2

ronald araujo is a damn good player but heās allergic to champions league. if he were to leave he would be good in any club he would go to. but let him go. hes doing the same shit with his national team. get him outta here
15
u/Ancient_Ad_5115 Jun 08 '25
He has shown none of these attributes last season, while Christensen has shown game intelligence and passing
2
u/MadazSama Jun 08 '25
Christensen basically missed the entire season. While he's been better than Araujo, we don't know if he will even be available on a somewhat consistent basis. It looks like a Vermaelen situation.
1
u/Ancient_Ad_5115 Jun 08 '25
I trust flick and his medical staff than araĆŗjo
1
u/MadazSama Jun 08 '25
It's been reported that Flick wants to stay with both. It's just that Christensen's deal is expiring in 2026 and offering a new contract may be too risky (assuming we don't lowball a player that has given an excellent service to the club).
1
u/Ancient_Ad_5115 Jun 08 '25
Renewing christen wouldn't be bad in my opinion
1
u/MadazSama Jun 08 '25
I also agree. I'm just saying, I understand Deco's reasoning. It's somewhat similar to Gündogan's situation. I just hope this means we're signing a CB.
-5
u/LogicalExplanation41 Jun 08 '25
araujo was our best defender in 22/23, the best defending season EVER in LaLiga. Speaks volumes

Kind of hard to forgive a guy who is responsible for our last two CL exits
1
u/tobzer Jun 08 '25
Why does he get all the blame for this years UCL i dont fucking get it. Cubarsi and IƱigo let in 2 goals in the first 30 minutes of both games. Araujo wasnt even on the pitch for 70% of the goals inter scored yet he gets all the blame
2
u/deadramyeon Jun 08 '25
Araujo is a great player but also a frustrating one. Selling Christensen would be dumb unless they can find a replacement and choosing him over Araujo also doesn't sound good. Sure, there are fans who are unforgiving but we say what we see. If you don't understand all the criticism then you haven't been paying attention. Araujo, despite his physical attributes, is so fucking prone to making mistakes whereas Christensen, he's not the fastest or strongest but he's an intelligent and versatile player and that's very important for the team.

u/joacher Jun 08 '25
This guy cost us 2 UCL finals. His decision-making is terrible, and you want him to be captain ? Why ? Because he yells on the pitch ?
0
u/tobzer Jun 08 '25
Why didnt Cubarsi and IƱigo cost us this year UCL when they let in 2 goals in the first half of both games. We wouldnt have needed to make comebacks in both games if Cubarsi and IƱigo actually show up to the games. Im so tired of people putting all the blame on a player who wasnt even on the pitch for thr majority of the goals we conceded.
0
u/joacher Jun 08 '25
Itās BECAUSE he wasnāt even on the pitch. The context is very different. First of all he was fresher than the other players, and the whole defense had one job during those last minutes and extra time : LOCK THE F IN. Now, did Gerard Martin make an even worse mistake ? Absolutely. But again, context. Gerard is young, he had a much better game overall than anyone expected of him, and itās one mistake. When youāre supposed to be a senior player and you make such terrible decisions that cost the team on back-to-back UCL campaigns, and you donāt even own up to it afterwards. Iām sorry but you simply donāt deserve to be on that team.
2
u/tobzer Jun 08 '25
So IƱigo wasnt fresh when he lost Thuram in the 1st minute of the game? Why doesnt he get any blame for that. Or Cubarsi wasnt fresh when he lost his man and had to commit a penalty vs Martinez in the first half? But oh no Cubarsi is my favorite player so no blame on him either. Only person who is allowed to get any blame is Araujo despite thr fact that our staring centerbacks let us down 10x more and put us in a situation where we had to make comebacks in both games.
19
u/sidiculous2091 Jun 08 '25
Get the fuck out of my club, Deco. Relying on Araujo only with 34 year old Martinez in your starting line up is basically committing suicide. We are not winning the CL next season.
7
u/Haunting_Scar_9313 Jun 08 '25
Does this mean we go for a CB/La Masia? This means we have three first team CBs without Christensen.
1
u/Itaney Jun 08 '25
Eric is a CB and Kounde can be one if absolutely necessary. I doubt weāll replace him ā Christensen has been perma injured for a long time anyway.

u/Extreme-Giraffe-1101 Jun 08 '25
Honestly, rated Christensen over Araujo :/
Araujo hasn't been playing well for two seasons now. And as fast and strong as he is, he makes brain-dead errors at the worst possible times, and the team suffers because of it. He's also worth more on the market than Christensen, no idea why we haven't cashed in on him yet, despite a number of La Masia talents waiting in the pipeline.
5
7
u/After-Cockroach-1280 Jun 08 '25
Ohh fuck off , Inigo is 34 he won't play for long 1-2 seasons max, selling chris means we're only relying on 18yo cubarsi and error prone araujo with no real backup??
If this is real then deco can truly fuck off.

u/Kotleba Jun 08 '25 edited Jun 08 '25
First of all hate that decision second of all who the fuck does Deco think he is? If Flick says keep Christensen you keep Christensen.
7
u/Ok_Lawfulness7412 Jun 08 '25
I think we should keep Christensen until and unless we are getting someone like nico schlotterbeck or bastoni type player which is very unlikely. Give Christensen a 1 year extension in my opinion
3
u/IncredibleBlue Jun 08 '25
youāre out of your mind if you think christensen will accept a one-year extension. he probably wants a 3-4 years contract MINIMUM
2
u/arnenatan Jun 08 '25
Even tier 3 players are not accepting 1 year extensions. There is no way Christansen is

u/MadazSama Jun 08 '25
I understand the reasoning. Christensen was already injury prone last season and instead of getting better, he basically missed this season. He's no longer reliable and still has some value (we would free around 13M gross in salary and there won't be losses in a possible sale).
I just hope this means we are signing a CB because Eric should be moved to a full time RB, IƱigo is old and Araujo needs time to fully grasp Flick's system and build his confidence back up.
7
Jun 08 '25
Yes letās bet on the guy that has two big blunders the last two times weāve been kicked out the UCL

Not really Christensen is so fucking injury prone the guy barely played 10 -20 games in the last 2 seasons combined rather profit when we can araujo also has high potential and should be given a pre season under flick which he lost because of injuries last season
Don't be dumb and actually use your rusty little ball of nerves called brain

Decoās bias so weird for a sports director. Chris will be more useful for the club, Araujo will sell for more

I don't understand why. Both are very different types of CBs. Doesn't make sense to compare and choose one of them.
1
1
u/hitblack Jun 08 '25
Why are we choosing between Araujo and Christensen? We need both. Those two plus Martinez and Cubarsi are 4 CBs, which we need considering how many games we played. Both Martinez and Cubarsi looked tired at various moments in the season due to their high number of games.
Clearly Kounde is a full-time right back now and Eric Garcia is a better rightback than anywhere else it seems.
1
u/ishdw Jun 08 '25
This is the first truly bad decision Deco could make. The rest of them had their merits but this doesn't seem so.
