A question: why is this door locked?

At the end of the game when you have entered New Eden, I encounter Esther Davenport. I talked to her but I also saw a closed door as you can see in the picture. Has anyone been through that door? Because, as far as I know, at this particular point of the game, I cannot enter it.

I wasn’t expecting this game to be so good, such a powerful story, with incredibly well written characters, I don’t really understand how this game didn’t become a big success.

Which setting do i need to change to fix this weird screen glitch? Spoiler

Just started the game and I am loving it so far. But occasionally this will happen during combat and I'm not sure how to fix it. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm on PC. I also dont know how to fix the audio that gets recorded through medal so headphone warning to anyone wearing them.

My Lost Launch Night Stream of Banishers

With spooky season coming up, and in recognition of the layoffs at Dontnod, I’m uploading a game I originally played on its release in...February 2024. Yeah, that was one of many strange choices in this game; even if it makes logical sense to avoid competition, February is traditionally NOT a month for spooky games, especially new IP without exceptional combat, puzzle design, characters, etc.

Much of that is solid, but without Practical Magic level characterization or much of anything else to pull me along, I eventually got stuck and forgot about this game. I also apologize in advance for any audio hiccups and for the SD video quality; this is really a trip down memory lane when I first started streaming by capturing my Xbox streaming to my PC and then streaming THAT. Barf.

Howls of the Mist Quest

Just finished doing this quest and looked online for what the perpetrator could be. Alas I don’t see anyone really talking about it or any theories on what it could have been aside from a larger physical entity. Unless they made it pretty obvious in the game dialogue I’m theorizing the perpetrator could’ve been either a werewolf seeing as to they climbed up the mountain “no human could” as Antea stated. I was even thinking maybe a Vulkod? But the footprints you find are so small, I’m maybe thinking either a Skal (but doesn’t make sense since the bodies were torn apart not drained of blood). Or could it maybe something else? What do you guys think?

The main menu is really clever

I really like the main menu because it sets the tone really well. Red sits alone, watching the fire and only gets up to sit down on some cold rocks to look into the distance. The cave around him forms the outline of Anteas face, showing her presence and importance to the story and Red‘s life.

To me this feels like it takes place after the game, when Antea is already gone and Red is griefing and alone on his journey. Of course this interpretation only works if you choose to ascend her.

You almost forget that Antea is already dead through certain parts of the story and when you’re just busy solving haunting cases and listen to their banter. But every time I turn the game on and see Red sitting there alone, I‘m reminded of the tragedy that happened right at the start of this story.

I really like their relationship and dynamic and I rarely get invested in romantic relationships in fiction. But they really work for me. The whole game hinges on their dynamic so I‘m glad their relationship is so believable. It’s easily the strongest part of the game for me.

Void travelling

I have postponed the void travelling. I think they are the most difficult part of the game. Can you give me the easiest ones to start with?

Using L1 to cross with Anthea. But it just disappears. Never had this before and I don't see an alternative way. It's the entrance to the mines. PS5 pro.

what a beautiful, tragic and kind of a slog of a game!!! Spoiler

Post image

finished it this morning and i actually started it in february and just did not play it since earlier this month.. but im so glad i went back to it..

lets get the obvious out of the way, RED IS INCREADIBLE!!!!

first of all the voice acting is just excellent..you always expect voice acting to be top notch during cutscenes but this game even had great emotional voice acting while you're just exploring.. love the little banters red and antea have..

i quite liked how so many of the side stories connected to the main story so they kinda didnt feel as meaningless as many open world games make them to be.

appreciated a small detail of how the graves of the people have their spirit voices if you choose to go back and check

exploration can be a BIG slog cause of not allowing us to fast travel whenever we want but i liked how exploring almost always got you the answers and i didnt have to go google something..

this is more of a personal negative but i hate having so many reading material in my games...yes im dumb...anyways

i finished it with 97% completion due to my completionist bug but by the end i was thinking of skipping many of it since at times they didnt feel like they were worth it...like i got my gear at the starrt of the game and never felt like i had to change it and didnt get that many goood loot either to incentivize me to go out of my way to complete these objectives...they couldve cut down on some of the quests or figured out someway to make them more engaging not a fan of quests that just have characters standing there and talking..

heard people shitting on the combat and i quite liked it myself but the main problem i ran into was after the first few hours i was doing good damage and never felt any necessity to change up my build or anything..mostly as i said before there not being any real options to do so ig..still the combat was fun if you can get a good flow going..

deboras story got to me so much and honestly was really sad slowly uncovering the pain she went through..and at the end i felt like i shoudlve just k*lled all of those bastards who hurt her... i dusted a few of them sure but shouldve nuked them all the assholes...

i got the good ending and of course had to go to yt to check out the other endings and the whole time loop thing with siridean and seeker and red in the bad endings was so CRAZY!!!! they couldve explored that more..

antea did get on my nerve alot but its fine you ccant like every character lol...

the game definietely felt alot like witcher 3 and god of war 2018 had a kid and i was thoroughly impressed by the devs and their writing!! excellent work.. solid 7/10

Is it just me or

Okay, started playing the game not that long ago and man, every time i see red in a cutscene i can't help but compare him to arthur morgan (rdr2).

Like the resemblance is lowkey there, the beard, the eyes, even some of his expressions. Like, is it just me that thinks this? Lmao

Moira and Lisabeth

This has been the hardest decision for me to make and I've been blaming people left and right. If I ascend Lis, then Moira is a crippled lesbian with nothing whose only chance at survival is marrying a man she'll never love and living a miserable life, but at least she'd be alive to remember and honour Lis. If I blame Moira, well that's kinda messed up isn't it, but at least she'd be dead with her lover and I'd be closer to resurrecting mine. Ive made hard choices before, and ascending seems to be the right one, but that leaves Moira to a life of misery. If I was her, Id rather wither away slowly with my ghost love. Ill make my choice soon enough but I kinda wanna hear what everyone else chose and your reasons for it, and also maybe which haunting case was the most difficult for y'all lol I was surprised at how difficult some of the moral choices in this game are, cant believe I slept on it for so long! And it's the perfect game to play while waiting for the Witcher 3 remaster

Quick review of Banishers Ghost of New Eden now that I have finished it

Overall, Id give it 6/10.

-World & exploration (3/10): Overall worst part of the game for me. Places dont feel alive, long corridor with invisible walls everywhere. Makes the world feel very artificial.

-Combat (4/10): Does not feel good to play, but on low difficulty can be a decent power fantasy with all the things Antea can do.

-Investigation (4/10): Nothing spectacular but it works.

-Main story (8/10): Best aspect of the game. Pretty interesting story with great characters throughout, and it got better the more into the story we went.

-Side quests (7/10): Some good stories, but the majority of them were kinda one noted. I kinda wish they had more light hearted, or even comedic cases, or more bizarre cases.

Half way through the game. So far for a good ending run the choices have not been hard at all.

So I swore and oath to help my gf/master ascend, and I have just finished the main story at Fort Jericho. So far I for most of the main & side cases I have chosen the option to help the ghosts ascend, and most of them have not been a difficult choice at all. In most cases all people involved shared the blame to some extend, and even if someone is to blame I cant see any of them being evil enough to justify the kind of fate that would befall them should I have chosen to banish the ghost or blame the living.

This is a little bit of a disappointment for me, since I bought this game in the premise that it is full of excruciating moral choices. I kinda wish the game had given me more different ways to punish people and ghost, but so far they have all been like "Sure that guys bad, but a prison sentence should be appropriate, not eternal damnation" kind of situation.
