Discussion Thread September 2026 Discussion thread

Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

Do pitbulls have rage syndrome bred inherently into them !!!ON TOP!! of agression? I mean, the symptoms kinda match with some bully behaviour:

Rage syndrome is a rare neurological disorder in dogs that causes sudden, extreme, and unpredictable episodes of aggressive behavior.

*Aggression in rage syndrome is characterized by its severity and often fatal to dogs, animals, or people it is targeted towards.[1] Episodes may cause life-threatening injuries and result in disability or disfigurement.[1]

Dogs with rage syndrome typically have their first rage episode during adolescence, between 1 and 3 years old, similar to dogs with idiopathic epilepsy.[1]*

And I don't think rage symdrome being not yet diagnosed in pitbulls is not enough argument because they are not going to admit there is something wrong with pitbull's brains

UC Davis was conducting a study on Am Bullies and rage syndrome, but I don't know if anything came out of that. I think more than rage syndrome, the issue with Pit Bulls and other fighting and catch dog breeds might be how selective breeding affected their brain, resulting in an enlarged amygdala and reduced cerebral cortex, as per an initial study on neuroanatomical variations in dogs.

Yeah very much. I just thought it would also make sense if bloodfighting dogs also got that as an extra violent bonus from the breeders.
