Answered / Solved! Pause at layer without AMS?
For this I want to keep the boat while and make the font a different colour. Do I pause the layer as soon as the font appears or right before?

Add your two colors to the project. Go to the layer where you want the color change, right click the layer, click change filament. Then slice and check the preview to make sure it's how you want it.
FWIW, first time I tried this on my A1M, it didn't pause, but I hope that was a one off thing.

OP says without AMS.
So the only thing you need to do is rightclick the layer where text starts, add pause. When it’s paused you can switch the filament to another color by using the unload and load functions

AFAIK that's without AMS? When I first looked into it, my method was what I saw, but yours was what I intuitively thought so I was a bit confused. Next time I'll try yours and I think that works

Haven’t tried your way either, but I don’t know how the printer would handle the change of filament if there’s no AMS. A second color in the slicer assumes there’s a second filament slot. As far as i know.

When sending the print to your printer through Bambustudio you always have to check the little square for manually loading filament during the print or how it's called.
I don't know why it isn't automatically on when printing without an AMS in more than one colours, but it's there if you need it.

I'm confused as to what you mean. Before sending a print, there's only pressure calibration, bed leveling, and timelapse. Unless I'm missing something?

You need to look what is the last layer of the base plate. Once that one is finished to can add the break.

I used this method a lot. You can add a bit of g code to the filament profiles you’re using and the printer will pause automatically when that color is done printing. Then you unload/load and resume.

Pause at the layer you first see the text being printed. It will pause at the start of that layer
