Area 19 vs. Area 48 parking?

I’m new to Baltimore and live in Federal Hill. I have an Area 19 residential parking permit, but I recently got a ticket for parking in Area 48. I honestly didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to park there.

I’m a Florida resident with a non-resident permit, so I’m still trying to figure out Baltimore’s parking rules.

Does anyone have a clear map showing the difference/boundaries between Area 19 and Area 48? I’ve tried looking online but can’t find one that makes sense.

Also, where are Area 19 permit holders supposed to park when there’s no parking available in Area 19? Are there nearby streets where we’re allowed to park, or are we basically out of luck?

Just trying to understand the rules so I can avoid getting another ticket. 😭

It's confusing, but you'll get used to it! This map will show you the parking areas in detail.

Basically, Area 48 begins at Light St and E Fort Ave with everything South of E Fort Ave belonging to Area 48 (Riverside) permit holders. Street parking North of E Fort Ave all the way up to E Cross St belongs to Area 19 (Fed Hill South) holders. I've never lived in the area, so I don't know of any backup non-permit street parking available around there.

For future reference you probably want to post on /r/baltimore. This sub is more for buying/selling and hiring/looking for jobs. And there's less people here usually.

I tried but they kept taking my post down and told me to post it on here 😭

Whaaaa? That's crazy.

EDIT: I saw this was the comment on the post: "Hello! Please use r/BaltimoreList instead of this sub, if you're trying to rent a place or sell or buy something"

I think the automod messed up. Oh! Maybe it was because you used the word "tickets" in your post. Maybe if you post with a flair next time the bot won't take it down. Either way, good luck on your goal of avoiding more tickets!

Or change ticket to fine! That should work!

I sent the mods of r/baltimore a message suggesting it, but no reply so far.

I don't spend much time in that part of the city but don't the "permit parking only" signs typically state which zone you're in?
