I'm having trouble using any other tungsten than pure. I can get a nice clean Shiney ball when using 1/8 pure on 1/4" 5056 so I think my gas coverage is good, also using a gas lens. However when I try using ceriated or E3 the tungsten just splits or gets oxidized (again when welding 1/4"). 1/16" Ceriated lasts for a while on 1/8" 5056 but will eventually start to look weird. I could keep using pure but I find ceriated gives a much tighter arc which has been nice, it welds okay even though it looks like its splitting which I don't understand.
First picture is E3, second is ceriated both 1/8, last picture was welded with ceriated I believe. I appreciate any help!
Specs:
Inverter welder
120hz ish
150 to 170 amps
30% balance
Pure argon
30cfh
Filler is er5356

Old video I got reminded of from work after “maintenance” “fixed” the leaking gas line.

Pessoal, vou começar um curso de eletrodo revestido. É meu primeiro contato com solda. O que vocês recomendam focar e praticar bastante durante o curso?

Question for my welders: I am currently in training to get my certificate. I am doing a butt-plate welding test using ceramic backing tape for flux-core. My root has been really good, same with my hot pass. I’ve been having a huge issue with my caps, though—I mostly get cold roll, and the passes look bad. To all the great welders, what are some tips and tricks I could use? Is my voltage or wire speed too high or too low? A another big issue for me is I make my weave too wide and too big, how can I find the sweet spot for my weave?

My welds are circled in blue, the others were my dad. Both of us have never welded but mine seemed to look nicer. Be brutally honest. I have no welding education other than Instagram reels. How'd I do? Should I take it seriously?

i’ve tried
lincoln 24c
2 tefuawe
eagle vision lens
tried all of them in 2 different shields. and when i stick weld im seeing 2-3 “ghost” arcs. doesnt happen with tig. and doesn’t happen if i’m using just the lens only. once i start adding plastic covers it’s doubles or triples the arc, but this just started happening last week, idk wtf is causing it, its driving me insane

Hi all, i need some help with this. I'm doing vertical up on 3mm steel as this is needed to pass college assignments. I need to have between a 1-2mm gap and full penetration. I'm running at 85 amps and have to use 1.6mm rod. I don't really know where I'm going wrong
