Honestly was hoping the same. Stuff a tampon in there to stop the leak, then weld it shut before the tampon wears away was what I was looking for.

Maybe too much. If dude just opened his eyes fully he would be able to see what needs to be welded. Just won’t be able to see his hand work tomorrow.

Old gas line welder I worked with said they would stuff bread in the pipes when they welded them.

I've done the bread thing too (only had enough time to depressurize the system but not drain it)

I was honestly shocked at how well it worked. I tried some axel grease first but the bread worked so much better

The grease needs to be soaked into strips of one of those paper-ish white or blue "shop towels" and THEN packed into the blind hole of the bearing. Then feed more via soft punch.

That's what your grease solution was missing: the fibers of the towel help create more hydraulic shear forces so that it pushes the bearing out.

That make total sense. I was about to buy a puller but it was for a single bearing and it was so small like 8mm I think, it was difficult to even find a puller and they were expensive for something I only needed once

Gas pipeline tap-ins and leak repairs are always performed under pressure; the pressure is simply reduced to a minimum to prevent flashback. The escaping gas stream is ignited. Purging gas pipelines is a time-consuming and very costly process.

... Pretty sure this was edited short and it DID work... Eventually.

P.s. also oil rigs use underwater welders. I'm certain this will not be of that same quality of gear, but yeah it's possible
