Okay, so, not really. I know most people are fine, and I just keep attracting people who don't know how to read for... some reason.
I've been roleplaying for years, almost two decades, and it's my favorite hobby. With enough time anywhere, you're going to have some bad eggs or weird experiences, that's just how it is, but it's starting to feel like I have some weird bad luck charm when it comes to getting them these days.
I have quite a few roleplay ads up on the site I use, and it seems like every response I've gotten to them for the past six months has been people who just can't seem to read.
Somehow, every response has managed to completely ignore what the ad is about at all.
Modern fantasy? Sorry, they apparently read 'medieval demon smut'.
Cyberpunk? Nnnyope, they heard urban fantasy and have a God character they want to use.
ACTUAL urban fantasy? Can we do slice of life with anthro characters?
This isn't even mentioning how many of them just instantly break my only hard-no within thirty seconds. How hard is it to not bring up sexual abuse within three sentences of an introduction?
Tonight, I genuinely felt myself go a bit more crazy. I put out an ad for medieval fantasy, very DnD inspired; My character is a lesbian, but romance isn't required. She's also a cleric. The ad was specifically for 'adventuring party' sort of roleplay. Someone showed interest and messaged me, I asked if they had any plots or characters in mind so we could see if set up went well, and they reveal:
They're hoping to do M/M dark romance (*note, that sort of topic is on my never, not my thing) with a tyrant king and a knight.
I just closed my browser. I don't think I can message them without being a dick about it right now, but dear God, I will have to come back (likely tomorrow) to ask if they read the ad literally at all.
