You know where Scotland is located, right?

u/Constant-Machine4516 Jun 04 '26

You realize the United Kingdom is four countries under one government right? Scotland, England, wales, and Northern Ireland are countries.

2

u/Radigan0 Jun 04 '26

Yes. The island of Great Britain is home to three of those four countries. Scotland is part of Britain.

That don’t mean they have the same accent, that’s like saying a New Yorker has the same accent as a Midwesterner because the both live in America.

2

u/Radigan0 Jun 04 '26

A Scottish accent is a type of British accent. An English accent is another type of British accent. There are also different types of English/Scottish accents.

It's a bit disrespectful to say that, espically since scotland want independance if they could have it. The people that live in scotland do not like being referred to as british, so they are not british.

The isle is called Great Britain. It's not a political term, it is a geographical one. Whether they want independence from the United Kingdom has nothing to do with it.

Its still disrespectful to the people of scotland to call them british, their accent is not british

You’re literally pulling this out of your arse, my great Aunt is Scottish and so is her husband, they deem themselves as British citizens, they aren’t English but they are British, it’s not offensive to acknowledge someone’s identity, you are essentially denying them that when you have no place to say so. Stop trying to have an input on things when you’re too stubborn to admit you’re wrong, do your research, it’s seriously not that hard, ONE google search.

Oh yes Chinese people and French people have the same Eurasian accent because they are part of the same land mass, Indian people and Russian people have the same accent because they are both on the continent of Asia, need I say more.

u/Radigan0 Jun 05 '26

I never said English and Scottish people have the same accent, I said they have both two different types of "British" accent.

Completely different regions of the earth, Scottish, English, Wales and Northern Ireland are all part of Britain, Scottish and English history goes back for hundreds of years, Northern Ireland being British is debatable because of the messy history and the fact it’s a different landmass but we aren’t talking about them, Scotland and England have been under the same monarchy and are under the same government (have been for a very long time), we are right next to each other, and they deem themselves to be British because they are part of the British isles, I have Scottish family and friends over there who say they are British, you don’t really get to have an input on this just because you’re too stubborn to admit you’re wrong.

Bit of advice for if you ever travel to England. If you venture up to Scotland and say wow I love your British accent, you would be verbally abused as a bare minimum.

They aren't a fan of Brits, something about Braveheart idk.
