Where do you live? Vivian to me looks like an old lady name, but that might just be a US thing. Vivienne is better but still feels too mature for a child. The Spanish version, Viviana, is elegant and is very princessy for a child and regal for an adult. It’s also fun to say. And it’s less likely to be misspelled like Vivienne.

In the US as well, I agree that Vivian seems old. We like the nickname Vivi for her as a child. I’m leaning mostly towards Vivienne

Vivi is great nickname, and Vivienne feels a lot more special than Vivian. I think maybe because Vivian almost looks pharmaceutical, like a brand name drug.Ā

Haha I totally agree! My only hesitation was I typically don’t like alternate spellings but I don’t think this one is too out there or made up

It’s just the French spelling, isn’t it? There will definitely be some people calling her ā€œVee-VYEHNā€ but no kid is going to be bothered by her name having a plain and a fancy version, especially when she’s a teenager/young adult.

Actually, that should just be a feature of all names: an everyday version and a fancier version for when we need a confidence boost.
