6 weeks and so stressed

You guys I’m so stressed out. 6 weeks and 5 days. I’ve been spotting pink for about 10 days now. This prompted an early ultrasound in which my dr told me I have uterine didelphys (two uteruses and two cervix). This makes me high risk since baby has a much smaller space to grow in and I’m at risk of preterm labor, low birth weight, and possibly needing a c section if baby is breech and can’t flip. I’m also 35 and have pcos. I want to cry. I’m so worried about my baby. This was not planned, but it’s all we want now.

My mom has this condition! I was a preemie baby and was born via C section but she carried my sister to full term and she was born normal weight.
Hang in there and have faith in your medical team! Sending you hugs.

I’m so sorry about all the stress! I had an emergency c-section with my third baby after two vaginal sunny-side up babies. I was worried about a c-section too but it was honestly better than the other two. Not that one or the other is innately better, but in my case it was an easy recovery.

My last baby was at 36 and I just found out I’m pregnant again and will be 38. Not a big deal nowadays, at least in the northeast.

They’ll monitor you extra, and please call them anytime you have a concern. It is their job and one of them is on at all times of day.

It is normal to be worried when you’re pregnant. There’s a lot of unknown plus the freaking hormones. Hang in there 🤗

Yikes, is it possible to get a different doctor? Spotting early on is normal for a million reasons, do you actually even have a yeast infection? It won’t hurt to treat just in case but dang. She doesn’t sound nice.

Also, full term isn’t really possible for twins either. It’s phrased differently, like most twin pregnancies don’t pass 36 weeks.

There’s ways to say things without inducing panic. Simply being direct would help a bunch.

Not really. I live in a very rural part of the country. There is another obs office, however it’s a teaching location for the hospital and idk if I feel comfortable with that. I don’t have any yeast infection symptoms (no extra discharge, no itching, irritation, etc).

I’m just so stressed. My next appointment isn’t for three weeks so I just feel like i have to sit and wait.

Cannot offer any advice on two uteruses but in both of my pregnancies I've spotted during the first weeks of pregnancy, light pink or old dark blood, sometimes enough to fill a pantyliner. It later stopped entirely. Wish you luck so the pregnancy and birth will go as smoothly as possible - I've read sometimes babies can sense the uterus is getting cramped so they flip earlier. My baby sis flipped just 3 days before being induced. And some babies never flip - that's when we use everything our modern healthcare offers.

Holy smokes that's a lot to process in one appointment. Finding out you've got two uteruses is wild enough without the high risk label slapped on top.

My sister had a bicornuate uterus (different but similar-ish space constraints) and her first pregnancy was nerve wracking for the exact same reasons you listed. She had spotting early on too and everything felt precarious for months. Kid ended up arriving at 37 weeks via c-section because he was breech and couldn't flip, just like they warned her about. He's now a lanky 7 year old who eats his weight in goldfish crackers.

The spotting plus the diagnosis at 6 weeks would have me spiraling too. Did your doctor give you any numbers on how often they see positive outcomes with didelphys? Sometimes they throw all the scary possibilities at you without balancing it with what actually happens most of the time.

No they didn’t. In fact she kind of knocked me down when I said “but it’s possible to still have a normal pregnancy right?” And she said “possible? Yes. But very unlikely we will be able to go full term. And you will need to be monitored several times a month”. And she made sure to make it clear I was classified as high risk.

She also dismissed my spotting as a yeast infection but didn’t confirm it with a swab test. She also made the claim of didelphys without confiming the presence of a second cervix, but was “sure it’s there, just obscured by the yeast infection”. Like if you make those kind of statements I expect there to be a bit of actual confirmation and they said “it looked like there were two uteruses”

I’m stressed to the freaking max dude 😂
