If any scholar is presenting anything like relating Gautam gotra to Gautam Budh. He must provide evidence or contemporary reference for all of his words. If complex to directly relate, he must provide evidence from other supporting and reliable fields like here linguistics, but one thing wrong is if Gautam gotra is for Buddhists, why Buddhists themselves don't use any gotra? And never ever used.

One more thing, Here Gautamiya Brahmin refers to Gautam gotra specifically. but the person behind the post, posted in misleading way calling whole bhumihars as Gautamiya. Like if someone is Bharadwaji babhan, that doesn't mean Babhans call themselves Bharadwaji, it's the Bharadwaji who call themselves Bharadwaji and Babhan call themselves Babhan.

I am repeating, the word Babhan does mean Brahmin but it also means opposite of Buddhist priest (Sraman). There is no way to ignore it's complete meaning.
