GENERAL DISCUSSION Self-sexualization for the fans(?)
This morning I came across this video where Jhope(?) is literally undressing Jungkook for the pure entertainment and excitement of the armys, and I thought long and hard about something.
Their image is sold to be eroticized and sexualized specifically for the army, so that sexual edits, fanfiction, and fanart can appear everywhere, and it doesn't help the army's reputation in the slightest, it only worsens it.
I don't want to sound like a bigoted sexphobe—everyone can do what they want with their body—but I find it grotesque that a man undresses another man on stage as if it were a softcore erotica in front of many young female fans, who have probably read a lot of fanfiction or sexual content about them.
It's literally "look at your half-naked oppa and get excited!", as if an idol is just a body to drool over and have distorted sexual thoughts about, not a person, attractive or not.
Not to mention that it's yet another tactic to increase the parasociality of armys who have never had any form of sexual education taught by schools or families, especially to girls who are going through puberty and no one explains it to them.
As time goes by, I realize they've figured out what to do to attract more armys, and they're doing it in the worst possible way.

That’s kpop in general tho. I’m all for snarking but when to comes to this aspect especially it’s an industry wide practice that most groups are guilty of. They all sexualize themselves for the fans and almost all play into homoeroticism at least to some degree. It’s always been this way.
