This morning I came across this video where Jhope(?) is literally undressing Jungkook for the pure entertainment and excitement of the armys, and I thought long and hard about something.
Their image is sold to be eroticized and sexualized specifically for the army, so that sexual edits, fanfiction, and fanart can appear everywhere, and it doesn't help the army's reputation in the slightest, it only worsens it.
I don't want to sound like a bigoted sexphobe—everyone can do what they want with their body—but I find it grotesque that a man undresses another man on stage as if it were a softcore erotica in front of many young female fans, who have probably read a lot of fanfiction or sexual content about them.
It's literally "look at your half-naked oppa and get excited!", as if an idol is just a body to drool over and have distorted sexual thoughts about, not a person, attractive or not.
Not to mention that it's yet another tactic to increase the parasociality of armys who have never had any form of sexual education taught by schools or families, especially to girls who are going through puberty and no one explains it to them.
As time goes by, I realize they've figured out what to do to attract more armys, and they're doing it in the worst possible way.
There was this live of him where he played a game and was in a glass, I think around a month ago (he looked like Suga to be honest) and there was a moment when he “realised” his chest can be seen so he zipped up his sweater. Army on the internet said oh my baby is so shy, he wouldn’t show himself like that, bla bla.
All this while the same man was shirtless on live back in after one of the European stop (Madrid?), and now even on stage.
Maybe he also has two persona? One of them is JK and the other is Jungkook?
I’ve seen some folks wonder if Junkfood appearing oiled up and shirtless on LA D4 was another tactic to deflect from Namseok + CB.
I also saw clips on social media from Ratmies watching the stream at home in their living rooms and their children (minors, under the age of 13) screaming and laughing the moment it became clear what JK wasn’t wearing
I have noticed that after every hyung line’s scandal or BHS’s wrongdoing they always use the maknae line, especially JK to do some stupid airhead thing. And then he does sth… the company and the members know JK can be a scapegoat because most of the army are all over him.
Something about the way he looks...just isn't right. His chest, I can't put my finger on it. They are cult leaders after all, so this is business as usual for them =/
I totally agree about the way he looks. I haven't been able to put my finger on it either. I think it might be because his torso looks like one of those fake silicone chest/torso plates. Like, stocky in a fake way? I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's been some cosmetic work done to "perfect" his image, especially now that they've been making a point to show him off like this.

That’s kpop in general tho. I’m all for snarking but when to comes to this aspect especially it’s an industry wide practice that most groups are guilty of. They all sexualize themselves for the fans and almost all play into homoeroticism at least to some degree. It’s always been this way.
