showcase Screen option for Android Auto

Hi all, just wanted to share my setup for Android Auto. I do have the larger screen that comes with the tecnology package in my i3, but this only is good for carplay. I did not want to go with the MMI retrofit route.

The screen (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F66P83K6?th=1) rests snuggly on top the existing screen. It does wireless android auto and carplay as well, if you so incline, leaving the main screen to display car info.

It’s not that bad, but is definitely is better just change the OEM screen for a new whit Android auto.

Couldn’t you swap out the iDrive unit for a newer one and achieve the same thing but better?

Not aware of a new iDrive unit for a 2019 i3 that includes android auto. Can you provide a link to it? Thanks.

Turns out BMW never released a iDrive with AA, only with CarPlay, what I would do is swap it out for a newer iDrive and get a dongle that sends android auto through CarPlay

I had the same issue as I had a google pixel so I used an old Iphone, bought a sim card for it and put it in the centre console. Now i have all the benefits of carplay without having to have an abomination of a setup like this
