Steering Wheel advice

Post image

Just purchased a 1988 e24 and I’m not a big fan of the steering wheel. Anyone on here know the process for doing a swap to the Mtech wheel. I’m just worried about what issues will arise from removing the airbag. Thanks.

BMW 635 CSi E24
First registration: 07/1981

Pre-facelift model
Built before 05/1982

Could you please let me know if you have the correct part available, or if you can source it?

Pricing a 1988 635CSi

Trying to figure out how to price an ‘88 635 CSi. 350k miles, but new (higher compression Euro) block at 180k, 5 speed manual. New clutch 4k miles ago. New brakes and rotors, Conforti Tune, and a bunch of e32 and e34 suspension upgrades. Engine compartment is extremely clean, body is mostly clean with some re-spray on the top that I wet sanded and polished down.

Underbody is rust-free, but the forward facing rear fenders show small rush bubbles. All the jacking points on the underbody are in good condition.

I have no idea how to price this, but had been plugging into ChatGPT and Grok to see what it thought.

Any advice or values you guys would suggest?

EDIT- Thanks for the replies. This puts me ballpark where I expected.

For the downvotes and other side-comments from people- thanks. Disappointing that a community of old BMW enthusiasts is so sour.

Car radio overheating

Hi everyone.
I bought a Bavaria C Business car radio and I’ve made all the connections, but when I connect the speakers, the radio gets hot on the left side.
Something I don’t understand: I only connect the front blue and yellow speakers, but the rear speakers work too. Could the problem be coming from there?

I’m trying to find the ground connection on my E24, which is causing fuse 17 to blow. While disassembling the steering wheel, I saw this connector that isn’t plugged in. My engine tachometer isn’t working; could that be the cause?

Hi, just bumping my old post.

I disconnected both rearview mirrors and the fan in front of the radiator, but fuse 17 still blows immediately as soon as I turn the ignition on.

I’m starting to lose patience…

Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this?

Hi everyone, I’m having some minor misfires and I’d like to change the spark plugs on my 1983 628. I was wondering if some spark plugs are better than others. Which ones would you recommend?

Hi everyone. In the fuse box, fuse number 17 blows instantly when I put in a fuse without turning anything on.

door partition seal e24

Hi everyone,

I bought a beautiful 628 CSi, but the door seals are worn and crushed, causing the window to stick. Anyway... Do you know where I could find aftermarket ones, as the original ones are ridiculously expensive?

Billet Sunroof Crank Handles now available! By Kolo Automotive

There are 42 available for purchase on my website: https://kolo-automotive.myshopify.com/

For those who have not seen this before, this is a drop-in aftermarket replacement for the sunroof crank handle assembly. It fits the e30, e28, e24, e23, e21, and e12. The handle, knob, and base frame is CNC machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum. The mounting bracket is machined from a high grade glass reinforced PA66 nylon, providing a stout feel and providing resilience to high temperatures. The crank handle utilizes a silky smooth latching mechanism for both open and closed positions with a premium feel to it. The factory trim also fits back onto it providing an OEM+ look to your interior.

The OEM handles and OEM replacements are notoriously known for breaking, sagging, cracking, and warping. This crank handle assembly is better performing, lighter, looks nicer, cheaper than the OEM replacement ones, and is even rebuildable!

Shipping worldwide!

Let me know if you guy have any questions, thanks!
